Why is there a small crossed crop lines in the middle of some of the cd labels and on some of the paper sleeve designs found on the cover pages?


ANSWER

The crop lines are to make a nice and smooth middle hole with the help of an Compass. Just remember when using a Compass for cutting the cd labels you first need to cut of the outside of the label itself and then cut out the middle hole.
 
DEFINITION Vertical lines used to indicate the center of a 2-page spread for folding or cutting are the center marks. Center marks usually appear at the top and bottom edge of the spread. Center marks are printed with thin lines of about 1/4 to 1/2 inches in length. With the help of an Utility Knife (Stanleymes) and a Ruler (Liniaal) you can use the lines to your advantage and make perfect cut outs. It's best to have a hard steal background when doing this!
