Why on earth would Elvis have chosen a setlist top heavy with his hits??
Everyone already knew he could sing those.
Elvis was saying to the world "Listen up". "I'm one helluva singer". "There's more to ne than my hits".
As for HIS hits that he DID sing: He threw them away. More old hits would likely have meant more throwaways.
There were commercial breaks in the U.S. version which ran for ninety minutes of air-time.
The story has always been that the"Colonel" didn't want "Aloha" conflicting" wih "On Tour"
The concert solidified his image from the seventies: majestic jumpsuit, soaring vocal ability, sleek and tanned, confident. He accomplished what he needed to accomplish with the show. I personally like the TTWII Elvis better as far as performance wise, but he was still great in Aloha. Moments like that happen once in a lifetime. I just wish he would of got more challenges in the later years.
That is right. So we wouldn't not seen the full show if it was shown live.
