A Question About the 68 Special.

A fifth concert at the BUrbank studios? Ok This is probably something that everobody knows but I dont, so if somebody can pass me the secret initiation, na, seriously, I've always wonder about certain photos belonging to the 68 special in which Elvis appear to be singing live in the same ring where the pit or sitdown concert sessions happened, he is sitting on a chair, other times on a stool, usually but not aways playing his old 1960 J200 gibson, now this could be any photo from the sitdown concerts but the thing is that he´s wearing the Levy or demin or wherever you want to call that outfit. So long long time ago I used to think that maybe for the 6:oo pm show he used the leather outfit, but being this so uncomfortable he switched for the Demin one for the 8:00pm, of course didnt took me long time to find out this wasnt the case.

So my hipothesis now are that either those photos belong to the dressing room sessions, the ones recently rereleased on the Let Your Self GO FTD, but I dont think thats the case because the backgroud of those pics looks as either the stage-ring or somewhere else in the studio, but not a dressing room; my other teory is that that was somekind of rehearsal for the sitdown concert, and if thats the case, are there any sound or video recording of that? At last I think maybe that was just a photo session were somebody asked Elvisto actually sing and not just smile as his usual promo pics during the 60's.

So any clues or rahter acurate info on this?

Hi, I know where You coming from, I feel that for years about thoses pictures, I think there A Third Show That We don't know about , I was told that thoses pictures are part of the Road Medley of special and for Promo
shots there saying that he did little show for The NBC Members.
It's Be nice have third show, and I hear He did Live Version Of Blue Moon Of Kentucky, only one show up is the dress rehearsal version.

He did wear the denim outfit for the road medley (some of which was cut for the final show). I think these photos are from the rehearsal. You can find the songs from the rehearsal and dressing room on the new FTD release "Let Yourself Go".

I'm thinking that these photos are from the rehearsals for the '68 Comeback Special...I definitely do not believe that there was ever a third sit-down show...these all look like publicity shots...

Tony, but if they were publicity shots what the hell is doing Fortas and DJ Fontana on stage with him? like the photo center above and bottom left... unless they made some little jamming just to take some live photographs for publicity, but what would be the point of doing that if you got all those great shots from both of the sit down shows using blakc leather. Plus you may notice that ELvis look kind of tired and with some latte night beard grown so if they were publiity shots, Im sure someone would have take care of that and loaded him up with tons of make up and hair spray, and that doesnt seem to be. ELvis worn out look make me thing that his was either something very informal like a rehearsal or some more jamming after some of the shows. But who knows?

Now, if instead of that, those were outtakes from the road medley, wouldnt they be on the Special edition DVD set? unless somebody erased them and they do not exist anymore.

Poormans gold, maybe the one extrashow for friends and members its possible, I read that happening too, but dont remember where.

The sound quality of the original source of the June 25 rehearsal is apparently a lot better than June 24. In fact, the sound of the FTD 'Burbank 68' representation is so good there is reason to believe it was recorded using a different recorder or at faster tape speed (June 24/25 comparison/sample).

So it could be that the session that taked place at the 25th its the one portrayed on those pics, and the fact that that was at 10 am could explain Elvis beard-grow and greasy hair?

Hey, I think those photos are from the formal stage rehearsal and that there was also an informal jam in the dressing room. I remember reading something about this, when I find it I'll post unless someone beats me to it. These aren't from the road medley because he was walking around in different scenery for that. The denim clothing does look the same though. Unfortunately, I don't know if this session was ever recorded on video, we may only have pictures and audio. There were things that were omitted from the Special Edition Aloha and Comeback specials that were on the single discs released later. Who knows, maybe this footage is somewhere waiting to see the light in the future! Hopefully.

its most likely it was as why would someone be there taking casual photos?
and if so, why the he*k wasnt any and all of any rehearsals and jams put on the dvd?
