Question Visits to the grave at dawn?

    Hi,

Almost 20 years ago, when I went to Graceland, you were able to walk up the driveway just after dawn to Elvis' grave, as long as you cleared yourself with the security guard first.

I did this several times, and spent one hour one morning sitting alone by the grave.

Anybody know if this is still allowed?

    Cheers.

Don't know if it is still Allowed or not... but I did the same thing 2 years ago.... best part of the trip of me... "Awesome". I was there are 7 AM and the guard made me wait for about a half hour but it was well worth the wait...

I guess I did not answer you question ... but if you are going... I sure would give it a try. Dovey

    Grave visits

I contacted Graceland re private visits to the grave, and they told me you're allowed to walk up the driveway between 7am and 8.30am.

Can't wait ... only six months or so until I'm back there after 19 years.

Am looking forward to the new costume exhibit that's been mentioned in recent posts.

That is something I would really like to do. Must feel very peaceful, sitting by the grave by yourself. I had no idea they let you do that. Something I will want to do whenever I get to go back!

Every morning from 730 to 830 there is a walk up allowed to the Gravesite.
Gates are open for this only. I was just there at Thanksgiving so it is still allowed.

It is very peaceful. I stayed at the HBH and it is just a hop skip and jump to go the the Gravesite. It is nice before the tour bus comes in, maybe about 20 people or so, some just sitting and meditating as the garden was meant to be for. I've gone last Thanksgiving and this Thanksgiving. I met some of the same people both times.

My wife and I left a bunch of fresh red roses on Elvis's grave early one morning in June 2002. We knew they would wilt by lunchtime, but we were on our way home in a plane by then.
