James Burton interview

Hi everyone.

I was lucky enough to arrange an interview with James Burton in Sydney Australia when he was here in October for the TCB concert.

He gave me two hours of his time on his day off, and was very warm and friendly.

He wasn't able to sign my guitar (too many people selling them for profit, so he no longer signs them) but he did give me a few tips, and did manage to play my guitar. There I was, sitting two feet away, and it was MY axe he was playing. Pure bliss. He was also kind enough to give me a signature guitar pick at the end of our interview. Also spent some time with Myrna Smith, so it was a good weekend all round.

Thats a guy I'd like to sit down with for a few. He worked with two of my favorite artists Elvis being number one and Ricky Nelson who is right up there on my list of early Rock N Roll greats list. Never had the pleasure myself. I've met and talked with Scotty Moore a few times, but Burton is high on my list of the Elvis people I'd like to meet.

Yes, JDD, James was kind enough to sign a few other things.
He signed my CD of 'The Guitar Sounds of James Burton' and a pic of he and Elvis that I'd printed off the Net. He and Myrna signed my concert program as well. Also signed tyhe same things for a friend of mine who lives down in Melbourne.
I didn't wish to impose on James too much. A pity about not signing the guitar, but watching him play it so closely more than made up for it.
