    "Tears of a King"...

I saw this on EIN...Looking at Elvis' latter days this film is due for release in early 2007. Read full press release and view images from filming...click on the link for more details...This looks interesting!

A dramatic theatrical motion picture is in production about Elvis Presley's final hours - his struggles against his personal weaknesses and his spiritual quest, especially his studies with missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the marginal notes he wrote in his own copy of the Book of Mormon.

    Tears Of A King

I think the movie sounds interesting from the standpoint of it showing Elvis' deep need to find a deeper meaning to his life by studying various religions. I think that a flim about his last hours is inappropriate however, because except for a very small handful of people who were there, what happened should remain private. Elvis struggled hard to maintain his privacy, and attain a sense of normalcy that had long ago disappeared from him. I'm also concerned that any film made on his last hours might focus in too much on the prescription drug angle, and it wasn't drugs that killed him. I'm hoping other documentaries that are bound to be made in the wake of next year's 30th anniversary of his death, will be made from an unbiased approach. It's what Elvis, his family, and we the fans all deserve.

I agree vulcandude. Dramatizing Elvis' last remaining hours does seem disrespectful. However, I think a movie about his spiritual quest would be interesting.

I do hope the truth will prevail one day.

Elvis did not die of an overdose of drugs. Most fans seem to know that by now but still a lot of people see him as a drug addict who died by his own fault.

That makes me so mad sometimes really.

What I regret is that EPE never really revealed how ill he was and how much pain he had in those last months of his life. They all talk about pills but never reveal what the pills really were for.

My thoughts exactly Riley! Now I understand wanting to give Elvis, (even though he's gone), and his family privacy, but let's get it all out in the open for once and for all! I mean, it's been nearly 30 years....giving out such information wouldn't hurt Elvis any....after all, even though he was "King", he was still, first and foremost, HUMAN.

    Indeed,

he was human. And being ill is not a shame.

There is a whole new generation coming, those who will not be guided anymore by fans who really saw him, by people who worked with him etc...

They will only have books and tabloids storys to base upon and now alreaddy young people talk a lot of him in very funny ways.

They all know him as a fat singer who ate too much and took drugs all the time.

My hearth really bleeds when I hear these things.

Elvis was the best performer this world ever had and unfortunately a lot of things went so wrong for him. A lot of bad choices in his life too but we all know he was ill, it showed on all his later pictures.

It must have been seen in his autopsy and it is sealed for a very long time.

    Why????

Having a disease or many diseases is not something to be ashamed about.

It is better to tell the truth then to remain silent and let the man go in history as a drug addict who was the blame for his tragic death at such a young age.

I totally agree Riley. Too many people have the wrong idea about Elvis, and it's time for those who knew him to step forward and set the record straight. I too, also get very upset at the drug innuendos and such. Elvis was the best, but was also human...people seem to have forgotten that.

This film might be worth seeing if as Riley and others have said they don't concentrate too much on the drug habit and speak more of his genuine health problems.

    Thanks for posting Franny. Diane

    You're welcome, Diane!

Yes, I agree! If it turns into a film about Elvis and drugs and nothing more, then it won't be worth watching!

Sounds interesting, but I am very skeptical as well. The fact that no mention is made of a contribution from Billy Smith or Ginger Alden or anyone who would have any real idea about Elvis' final hours is not encouraging.

And not that I am not a religious person, but the way this is being presented makes it sound like there's an agenda there.

    I hope I'm wrong.

Gotta agree with you once again buddy!!!

Since there was no mention of anyone associated with Elvis being affiliated with this project, I also have to wonder if this is just one of the many "projects" somehow connected to Elvis that we will have to look forward to as the 30th anniversary of Elvis' passing rolls around....

(I will use the term "projects" loosely since I am sure this is just one of the many things (both legitimate projects and junk projects) that will be flooding the market in 2007 to cash in on the 30th anniversary!!)

    TCB!

Sounds to me like this will make Elvis out to be some sort of religious nut?

    Looks Bad

I dont like this at all. At first I was excited, but I think its time we see an Elvis Movie done like the like Ray or Walk the Line. Big Budget & great actor that looks like Elvis & sounds like Elvis. Jonathon Rhys Myers was ok but didnt do his own singing. I'd like to see this happen. Kurt russell doesnt cut it either. Who would you like to see play Elvis? Easier said than done eh? I cant think of anybody worthy maybe use the best Elvis impersonator out there like Donnie Edwards.

    He is VERY GOOD.

    I also like his looks.

He could be a good actor to play finally a high budget movie about his life (cfr. Walk the line)
