  1. #21

    Talking

another bad thing about his army time is because he met priscilla .

its ironic, back in the 70's elvis tried changing his concert songs and got basically the thumbs down for doing so BY HIS FANS!!! and now thirty years now we are saying what if???????

the reason why elvis fan by that times kind of dislike elvis singing new song was that the trend by then, it was all about nostalgia..i remember my dad who is now 63 told me that by that time elvis was one man event, since he had many hits in the 50s so in 70s when that nostalgia fever going..most of his fans wanted him singing those good ol'song..
maybe if he still alive...today he would already making new album and new songs...well we never know

I think I would ask, "In case Charlie doesn't get the call , could I sing all his harmony parts with you up there?"
...you won't forget me when I go.

    Great question!

Ok, my question would be: "What will you play tonight?"
    (Blackmore - Gillan - Glover - Lord - Paice)
    Sweet child in time
    you?ll see the line
    line that?s drawn between
    good and bad
    see the blind man
    shooting at the world
    bullets flying taking toll
    If you?ve been a bad
oh Lord I bet you have
    and you?ve not been hit
    by flying led
    you?d better close your eyes
you?d better bow your head and
    wait for the ricochet

Nobody can die of creative boredom. Elvis was fundamentaly lonely and subconciously wanted to die. Nobody was truly in love with him and I don't think he was ever truly in love with anyone either and he believed that it would be impossible to know if anybody truly loved him because of his enormous fame. The rest of the stuff about the way his career was going are the symptoms of his personal unhappiness not the cause.
Anyway back to the topic. My question to Elvis would be in 1973 just after the Aloha show and I would ask him why he did not send a special message to his fans worldwide during such a historic occasion.

    a question for elvis

I guess if I was given the chance with everything I know now, I would ask elvis, what he wanted, how he felt, and what would make him happy. Answers which sadly I don't think anyone around him cared to hear. Then I would assure him that whatever he did and where ever he wanted his life to take him would be fine with all those who truely do love and adore him.

If I could say anything to him what would i say??

Probably it would have been sometime in the late sixties. I would be outside the music gates, Graceland - and when he would come out to sign, I would just tell him that I loved him and that his wife and child were beautiful.

And above all else thank him for coming out to sign.

I would like to say soo many things, but I guess what I want to do most of all is go back to 1976 and tell him: Elvis, maybe things look bad now and maybe you lost your faith in yourself and in the people, but remember one thing: No matter how bad things may seem, you can always turn them into something good. You just have to take a step back from everything so you can get everything back in order again. I know it's hard to loose people you care for but be glad that you now have the chance to find out who your true friends are. The ones you should hang on to and the ones who really need you too. You'd be surprised to see how many people still really love you truely. Those are the ones that you should "fight" for, not the ones who cause you only sorrow and pain.

Wow. I told ya I had much to say.

I can't agree, Abbi. When Elvis was given a challenge, he rose to it e.g Aloha. The concert trail for Elvis in the mid 70's had become as much a treadmill as his 60's movies.
I wish I has a crystal ball to see how things might have panned out had Elvis done a European/World tour or been offered a decent movie role in the 70's - the end result can't have been any worse than what eventually did happen.
By CBS-1977 it was too late and sadly, for Elvis, his fate was sealed - I'm sure many other factors in Elvis' life contributed to this, but I would still put creative boredom and poor management at the top of the list.

EAP I agree in one thing. the boredom. I think Elvis got fed up with always doing the same over and over again, while he knew he had more to give. Ofcourse he loved to perform! There's no doubt about that. I think Elvis knew that he was hidding the wrong direction, but he didn't know how to get out of it. That's why I love the song : Help me, so much. Elvis sang it in later concerts often and to me it was as if he asked for help to get out of that circle that was created around him. (He sings it with sooo much pashion.)Maybe that he gave more performances at the end then that he could bear was to run away from all the cares in his normal life. On stage he could be who he wanted to be. A performer and entertainer.

    Be safe and take care,
