Thread: Elvis' grave

  1. #41
Macon takes pride that Elvis came here. We have the Macon Coliseum which still stands but looks a little bit different. Inside is a few pictures from the 1976 show and I believe two from the 1977 show. They have display one of the many scarves that he gave out. There is two ticket stubs for the 1976 and 1977 shows. There is a shop that is in south Macon that has a Elvis statue in front of it. He sells them. There is a place in north Macon that is call Elvis' place which is a place that you can go in a look around to see stuff of Elvis, no it is not real but it is close enough. I never been to there and was told about it a few days ago. They have four displays that has replica of Elvis' jampsuit that he wore during his Macon shows. So Macon takes Elvis by heart. They have the newspaper in there which you can clearly read about the Digging up of Elvis' grave. Also right next to it is the one which says for the headline "No way for Elvis' Grave". Which tells that the family change its mind.

Paulette Fountain cried the day Elvis Presley died. She was at home when her cousin called with the sad news. Tears rolled down her cheeks and fell at her feet. The date was Aug. 16, 1977. That was 29 years ago today. Two months earlier, the King had almost stepped on those same feet after his concert at the Macon Coliseum. Lord have mercy, if that had happened she might never have washed her feet again. Just like the fork. She has never washed the fork. "It will never

    The above from the archives.
I remember reading many of the original August 17th 1977 obituaries, including "The Times" of London UK. A very poor effort!!!

Hardly suprising that the Times would have little in a way of an obituary for Elvis, considering he wasnt 'home grown' and had never even set foot in England -( Prestwick airport noted and disregarded thank you never mind sing here so I can hardly blame them

I know someone who has that magazine and it was publish here in Gerogia when Ali was down here back in late 82. Priscilla and family along with EPE said that they was going to dig him up back in aroud 93 or 94. I saw it on the news. CNN news cover it for over a day saying that they was going to lay it to rest once and for all. Then, a few days later they said no we are not going to do this. I can't believe anyone doesn't remember that. I remember they showed outside of Graceland with a line in front of it. At that time it was live and it happen during the summer when they annouce that they was going to dig him up. I have a friend who will be letting me borrow the tape he recorded that day and a few days later. It was also in some news papers as well. Here in Macon had the headline "Elvis to be dug up". They showed a picture of him in the coffin. Under that picture was the line "since this picture no one has seen Elvis but family wants to leave no doubts that Elvis is dead." I use to have that newspaper but it got destory back in 2000. I didn't know it was in my storage building and the dampness got to it and ruined it.

Well how about you produce that Video tape from CNN? Pity that the damp ruined the paper. Maybe you can get a copy of that fictional rag online and show us?

It never happened. End of. Thats like Gail Brewer Girogio's nonsense.

Exhumeing a body to satisfy public curiosity, I never heard anything as absurd.

Do you honestly expect, with no proof, talking to a lot of well educated, articualte, intelligent Elvis fans that ANYONE here would beleive this rubbish?

Lots more UK Newspapers did in fact give Elvis headlines..some for most of the week!

The fact The Times, a very sniffy newspaper back then in 1977 HAD to is more to the point. Elvis was a world renowned figure, of course the paper could not ignore his death.

Nowadays The Times even mentions Elvis Airport stories:-)

The UK and Irish newsagent shops displayed maybe a dozen other daily newspapers with similiar headlines. Most major cities and towns also ran the story in the Evening newspapers. What a sight that was!

I have seen it on Ebay a few times. I been trying to get one ever since my got destory. But you can always come down to see the paper in the the place I have mentioned. They do have it. Although that I don't have personally have the proof but it is displayed right were you can read it. Even several people I have ask remembers it happening and they don't like Elvis that much. But they remember the headlines in the paper. They also remember the CNN report.

The 16 page essay above is an in depth look at how the INTERNATIONAL media covered Elvis's death. CBS First thought it was not that important a story!!!

Of course the rest of the worlds press DID think it a HUGE story.

Another reason why I recommend "In Search of Elvis" by Vernon Chadwick. Credit where it's really due

I also read the story 'bout them exhuming Elvis's casket but nothing ever came of it, fortunately. I think it was just publicity hype.....

Well, at least someone remembers it besides me. All I remember is them saying it and then they say no we are not. But I too think it was a publicity hype.

I think the topic of the possibility that Elvis could be alive or might have faked his death is what belongs in the grave.

Fact: EPE and others have changed their stories so many times that it is almost impossible to find the truth anymore, anything that is written in the newpapers and any report on the T.V. are pure speculation in this matter.

The thought that Elvis should be exhumed is just plain *****ic, the guy is gone plain and simple. Even if for some bizarre reason this did happen and his bones were tested no-one would believe the results because it would confirm what they don't want to believe!
