My vote went to the 1960's. The '68 Comeback Special and the 1969 Las Vegas Engagement is enough to want the 60's !!!
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

A photo would have to come from 68-70, and probably a song from that era too.
However, if they were dismissive of Elvis' latter years i would play them Unchained Melody or TROUBLE

I think 1969-1970...By then Elvis voice was matured and he knew what he had THE BEST voice in my mind no one well ever come close to his heart and his love for music.

Before the 70s his voice was still raw and he was still trying find his range. But in the 70s there was no range for him. You could give him any song and he would had made it his own.

but if one song could sum up his life it would be:
    MY WAY

    Love to all,

i voted for the 50s because that era shows the pure, raw elvis.Just listen to great tunes like My Bay Left me,Baby Let's Play House or Treat Me Nice. The 60s and the 70s are also great in there own ways. But i think the 50s are the best era to introduce non elvis fans to Elvis.

50s:My Baby Left Me (luv the great drum-intro.That really rocks )

    60s:Too Much Monkey Business

70s:The Fool or For The Heart

    50s-Good Rockin Tonight
    60s-If I Can Dream
    70s-Burning Love
Its so hard to represent ELVIS to people because he has so many different images and looks. The music is so far reaching into almost all catagories from pop to blues to country (even a broadway tune here and there)
Many pidgeon hole him into the image "they think" he was-because they have not looked close:
70s -"white suited, Vegas, Fat at the end "
60s-"slick blue black hair, lame movies, weak songs"
50s-"Rebel, greasy hair, helped start Rock, best music "
Now everyone here knows he was much, much more in each of these periods than the descriptions I used but its hard to get across to someone who has limited knowledge of his talent that he was so far above those statements. Some see it in an instant, with one clip or song, others don't.

I think the 68 comeback special is the best way to go. It has be re-done beautifully, EP looks unbelievably cool, and there is no denying the brilliance of his performance. Nothing against the other era's, they were obviously incredible as well, but I've never, ever heard a bad word by anybody about the 68 special, he was that good, not to mention his suit was and still is to this day, historic! It was the greatest rock & roll ever performed!

A great answer to this question is the Pop Idol duo that has been recently done with Celine D

Whether we choose the 70's or not it still seems that the 68 Special is forever etched on the subconscious of the general public!

I voted for the 60s.I believe that the 68 Comeback Special and ofcourse the 69 comeback at the International Hotel is more than enough to introduce Elvis to a young fan of his!

I agree with what you say. I voted for the 50s simply because, to me, that
was the kind of music that started everything. It was the music that reached
out and grabbed us and I think it would have the same effect on the young
people today. When I listen to the early music now, I can't help but think
that if Elvis hadn't come along in that decade, he could do the same with
that music today! It still grabs me! But, I also think that young people today
will find something Elvis that they can like and relate to in any of the three
decades. Elvis started out GREAT and just kept getting better and better!
