Great poem, thanks for sharing.
?Elvis at 21?
Elvis on entering the Warwick hotel,
Is obviously ill at ease,
Like the day he entered Sun,
Stepping in, whilst about to leave.
But he is set on venturing,
Into a world, he will make his own.
And never again be hesitant,
Or feel so quite alone.
New York loomed large in his mind,
There he would make a stand.
A young man aged just 21,
He would conquer ALL the land.
Fifty years have passed since then,
Incredible as it seems.
Yet Elvis?s voice enriches still,
Those, who have young dreams.![]()

New York was quite an experience for us, Elvis must have been impressed by the sheer scale of the city. I wonder did he ever get a chance to actually tour the place? Any Photos apart from the Alfred Werthemeir and Madison Garden variety?
The booklet above was free from the bus and tour booking shop on 8th or
9th Avenue. We stayed in the Belvedere Hotel on 48th street west...very handy for seeing a great deal of the city ..by taxi, and on foot too!
