    Introduction:

I doubt if there's any year in Elvis carreer that has more highs and lows than 1974. From the fantastic first months, to a amazing Las Vegas openingshow (with a complete improved setlist) to the dramatic ending of that same season and the shows the following tours (College Park). This show is from the same tour as that infamous College Park show.

This CD hasn't been called Breathing Out Fire for nothing. Elvis was really on fire during this show! Right after the ending from See See Rider, the 13.500 people in the audience already knew that this would be an extremely upbeat show.

    Track-by-Track:

After a energetic See See Rider the band repeats the ending five (!) times to which Elvis responded joking "that wasn't supposed to happen. We goofed up on the ending. They did, I didn't. I don't take the blame".

The I Got a Woman / Amen medley is done with the regular humour between Elvis and JD. Right after the ending Elvis welcome the audience and introduces himself as Wayne Newton. Some other jokes follow. Yep, you now know it for sure: this show is going to be fun.

Love Me seems to be a bit faster than normal. Fever is done in the talking/joking way, but it still can please me personally. He still managed to get the crowd screeming during this version, so nothing wrong with this performance.

When the band starts to play Big Boss Man, Elvis interrupts them and asks to get the lights out of the faces of some people ('they can't see...... there you go'). But after changing the lights some other people can't see The King ('Oh, now YOU can't see me? Do you have a flashlight?'). A little later Elvis starts a good version of this fantastic live track.

A bit further into the show Elvis does a rare performance of The Wonder Of You. I've always found it weird to hear Elvis sing this song after 1970, because it never is done properly and it always sounded a bit rushed and incomplete. Kathy Westmoreland seemed to enjoy the song, because she does her best on the high notes (fantastic).

During the bandintroductions the pianoplayer does his short solo to which Elvis starts singing Lawdy Miss Clawdy. At first it doesn't sounds like it has been rehearsed that way, but it turned out pretty good after all.

Without introduction, Elvis switch right into Blue Christmas after Heartbreak Hotel. There must have been happening something funny on stage, because somewhere during this song as says 'stop laughing', but laughs himself a few seconds later. Nice version

During the ending of the Hawaiian Wedding Song something funny happens: Elvis says to Kathy that she didn't had her leg right and that the ending wasn't romantic enough. So he starts the ending of the song again (probably with Kathy on stage) and asks her 'what is this? A waltz?' and laughs through the ending of the song. A shame we don't have footage of that moment.

The last two tracks (Johnny B. Goode and Can't Help Falling In Love) are taken from Baxter's 'a profile, volume 1'.

All in all it's a fun, upbeat show with Elvis in good spirit and good voice. Yeah, he talks much, but without the cursing and slurring. The sound is quite good (average for a soundboard).

Thanks for the review and info on this interesting show. While the line up is a bit "different," with no real dramatic numbers (Bridge, Trilogy, Mountain), yet it looks like it was a great show!

indeed it was a good show, take my word for it. Elvis's voice is really strong in this concert, as it was in most 1974 shows (don't know why that is) the sound quality is really average for a sound board, lot of hiss, but still enjoyable. get this cd!

    Cool

The sound quality is not the best and the booklet has some mistakes in it. But still the show itself is quite good, especially compared to some other concerts during that tour.
