Sadly if anything I think he holds back. Elvis wasn't a well man at the end. Though I think he tried to cover, The last few weeks from the sounds of it must have been very hard.
I just rented the book from my local library "The Death of Elvis- what really happened" by Charles C. Thompson and james P. Cole. It lookes very interesting and something worth reading. To those who've read it, what do you think? Is it accurate to you think?

I read it a while back. It has the ring of truth to it and they get very detailed. It's a tough read (as far as the gritty graphic and medical details) but if you want to know why, it gets pretty close, I think.
Got my family, my kids, my books and my music, I'm good, yeah, I'm good.....

Very true. There is definately stuff in there that made me cringe. Not for the faint of heart for sure.Originally Posted by JDD

It's just a guess, but I think that Elvis simply overdosed. His consumption of medication was that high, that all it needed was a little more to kill him. He had visited the dentist that night and got some havy painkillers from him. And he took them on top of the other stuff he was taking. I guess that was that one pill too much. He took his stuff while he was in the bathroom and I guess the medication started to work a little earlier than Elvis was expecting them to do. He sat on the toilett when the stuff started to work, he got cramps, stumbled around a few steps and than fell down on the floor with his face in the carpet. Certainly not a nice way to die, but I still like the expression "The King Fell From His Throne". Not nice, but funny.
Yes, absolutely hysterical - we've all been laughing since 1977, it's been one ongoing joke hasn't it??!!Originally Posted by orwell1976

Please keep in mind that this is an Elvis Presley forum and that any form of mockery of Elvis is out of the question. However, this does not mean that we close our eyes for Elvis' shortcomings or that discussions about this isn't possible on TCB-World.

I don't see nothing funny, but I guess everybody is entitled to have their own opinion..
all the goons I left behind,
memories still linger..
Personally I don't need to know the details of Elvis' death cos the sad fact is he's gone so what's the point. I'd rather remember Elvis doing what he did best, singing from his heart and spellbinding every audience that had the honour to hear him with his incredible voice and charisma.
You ask how long I love you, I'll tell you true,
until the Twelfth of Never, I'll still be loving you

It will be a while before we know for sure, but no can argue that his health was in freefall for years prior to his death, and he often consumed much more medication that he did that night. Persoanlly I don't think a few more codeine tablets from the dentist killed him.

OK, I have some kind of dark black humor (some call it cynical), but the truth was that Elvis was a junkie and he died on the toilet. You don't have to like it, but maybe a little truth won't hurt. If it does, it's more your problem than mine. Anyway, I didn't want to offend someone with my comment, but it would be also nice, if some of you girls' n guys wouldn't react that hysterical if someone talks about Elvis weight, health or something like that.

everyone knows how elvis died, and it seemed so insensative of someone who is supposed to be a fan to just write it on the forum for all to see like you did. i dont think anyone reacted hystericely it was just a bit sad to see it put so bluntly . you must of new you would get a reaction off some fans and thats exactly what you got. heres why.

It,s so sad to see some people who call themselves elvis fans speak so rudely about him!orwell 1976 there is no need to be so blunt about elvis tragic death so young and at the peak of his career! I,m sorry ........
I think Orwell 1976 is right.....we Elvis fans created from the beginning on an image of Elvis being a "clean, cut country boy".....Elvis can not do wrong.
We all "agree" and think it's cool that the Beatles, the Sones, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin etc did drugs....when it comes to Elvis everybody thinks he was a saint.
Well.....he was not......he was just as human as anybody else in this world.
Listen to the "Desert Storm" monologue and some other shows in 75/76.....Elvis was far from being himself....he took huge amounts of "prescribed" drugs.
He's rambling on and on....going from one subject to another.....karate....his paunch that is actually a "bulletproof vest".....how many airplanes are traveling with him....insulting the Sweet Insprirations on stage....etc...etc.
Elvis was in serious health problems!!!!!
If he took better care of himself...and the people around him would care about him too....maybe he would still be here today.
Lots of those old Sun rockers are still alive...Jerry Lee Lewis is still performing !!
I think that Orwell 1976 is a true Elvis fan....so am I.....so please people....face the fact.....Elvis was a junkie.....and he was the greatest entertainer all time !!!

I've never really heard this I think its cool someone took drugs stuff before , Hey but thats just me. Where I live nobody thinks its cool.
No doubt there were health problems since, He died. The rest feels a lot like speculation to me but to each their own .
