Specifically, the finale of "Hurt". See the New Year's Eve show.

during the most concerts in 1976 & 1977 Elvis did a reprise of the last part of the song 'Hurt'... Most of time during the reprise he dropped himself on the ground singing the last note on the ground.

Thanks for the info although I didn't post the question.
I've always wondered what he was singing lying on the floor

It's great to see but it's very difficult to sing the end of this song lying on the floor...you can't sing as easy as when you are standing...
That shows us how great his voice was

while singing, Hurt, he would drop the ground on that last big note he holds.

I love it when watching the footage..Elvis at 41 moving around like crazy on stage falling to the ground just like he did on occasion in the early 70's

like MojoElvis said, Elvis would sing the song, then at the end during the reprise, he'd just roll onto the floor as a bit of singing showmanship. It's hard to sing laying down, and Elvis would hit those notes.

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

All these mebers saying its hard to sing laying down!?!?.

When you are laying down your breathing is more natural and its easyer to sing and hold notes whilst laying down - try it!. so i would say elvis did this for that big note at the end to reach it and hold it.
