That is so sad.....I hope they correct that soon!
I just got back from my annual trip to Vegas and was very upset to see that the statue and plaque of Elvis is now relagated to outside by the driveway to the Hilton. Is this the thank's Elvis has been given for the hundreds of concerts he performed at the Hilton. The statue is covered so you ca't even see it right now and I'm assuming there will be some kind of unvailing soon.
Anyone know whats going on.
That is so sad.....I hope they correct that soon!
"Don't tamper with the property of the U.S. Male"
I'm not sure but I read it is due to works being done in the entrance.
I think it is temporarly.
The Las Vegas Hilton does absolutly NOTHING with Elvis memory/lagacy. Most of the people over there don`t even know he ever performed there![]()
I`ve been in this hotel on my honeymoon and the service was terrible compared to my earlier vistits.....It was the last time i ever set foot in The Hilton.![]()
ELVIS IS KING AND YOU REMEMBER THAT !
I was in Las Vegas in December 05
I didn?t stay at the Hilton as I heard plenty of negative comments regarding their service and outdated rooms. But as an Elvis fan I HAD to visit the place!
I was shocked to see almost no mention of Elvis in the Hotel. I never saw a statue in the lobby. The only thing I saw was a small room near the entrance to the showroom that had several pictures of Elvis on the walls. Most of them were not even of Elvis at the Hilton.
They did have a couple photos of Elvis wearing the International Hardhat and a description of how Elvis was involved in the birth of the hotel.
I guess the part that really bugged was when I visited the gift shop expecting to see some type of Elvis mementos and only saw Beatles stuff! The Beatles never performed there and I doubt they ever even stepped foot in the place!![]()
A question for those who went to Vegas.
Elvies occupied a suit there. I heard it was beautiful on the top floor. Is it still there to see for tourists or is it still there but closed to public or doesn't the suit exists anymore.
Who knows and perhaps who saw it and if someone saw it what was it like?????

Oh I see, so the big names performin g there still stay at "his" private suite.
Is it still in the original state as it was when he lived there.
I saw the dvd The TCB gand that's the way it was.
There is a BEAUTIFUL scenery were all the men are stitting while talking about him. I heard this was filmed in his suite. Too pity they didn't put an extra on the dvd with a little screenshots of the place.
It looked more like the entrance or something but soooo beautiful.
Almost like a palace.
I really wonder how luxurious it must have been for him.
Nice, real nice![]()
I`ve been in that suite back in 1992 and it was beautiful, huge with a bar and a seperate diningroom. There was a private bedroom for Elvis and 3 more bedrooms for his enthourage. His bad was goldplated and there was a huge kitchen inside. There was also a very impressive entrance and there was a liftdoor with a bullethole still in it !! If the suite still exist, wich i doubt then it is not original anymore, because the suite was right under the word `Hilton` on the 30th floor (penthouse). I`ve been there again 2 years ago and the used that space as a sort of controlroom for an upcoming musical.....i did not even look like Elvis` suite anymore......typacilly HiltonOriginally Posted by riley

ELVIS IS KING AND YOU REMEMBER THAT !
Did you take pictures of your visit there in 1992 or was that not allowed.
If yes, is it possible to print them.
I'm doing kind of a slideshow of his life and I have alreaddy a lot of pics about his Vegas years and performances but I would like to have any pictures of his suite in the Hilton.
That would be marvellous to see![]()
FYI The statue has now been put back in its original place it was moved because of constuction work.According to elvisnews.com
this is what elvis news had to say! Elvis statue at the Las Vegas Hilton has now been put back were it originally was. Due to construction work the statue had been away for a few months.
From the Las Vegas SUN:
John Katsilometes talks with a Las Vegas Hilton employee who has fond memories of hanging out with Elvis Presley
Janie Steele arrived in Las Vegas in 1964, fresh from South Carolina, and went to work as a data processor for the Nevada Test Site.
Six years later she was friends with Elvis Presley.
In October 1970 Steele moved on to the International (today the Las Vegas Hilton) to work as a "camera girl" in the showroom. These were the young women who photographed anyone visiting the show, and in those days the city's biggest show - which would sell out 837 consecutive times from July 31, 1969, to Dec. 12, 1976 - was Elvis'.
"I first met him one night when a co-worker and I were invited up to his suite on the 30th floor, between shows," Steele said Wednesday afternoon as the statue of Elvis was re-unveiled in a courtyard in front of the Hilton's main lobby. "We all sat down and ate dinner ? he had steak, but I don't remember what else. But he was really nice, and we got to go upstairs many times and really got to know all the musicians, and all of his buddies who hung around with him."
Steele joined LV Hilton General Manager and Chief Executive Rudy Prieto in dropping the blue satin sheet that draped the Elvis statue for the unveiling. The bronze figure has been a fixture at the hotel since 1978, but was taken off the property several months ago and stored in a warehouse while renovations were made to the Hilton lobby.
It was fitting that Steele represented the Hilton employees; she has been with the company for 36 years and now is a clerk in the accounts receivable department. She is one of those rare casino employees who actually worked with Elvis and is still employed here.
"People forget that he worked so hard - two shows a night, seven nights a week - and we became like a family. That suite was very much like his home, and we respected that," Steele said. "He practiced his karate up there. He would gather everyone around the piano and sing gospel songs. I was not a big Elvis fan when I moved to Las Vegas, but meeting him - wow, it was such an event. He called me 'Little Girl' all the time. That was my nickname."
The last time she saw Elvis, Steele recalled, she was concerned about his appearance, but had no idea of his addiction to prescription pills.
"He was overweight, but I didn't think much of it. I remember coming up from behind him and putting my arms around him and noticing how much weight he'd gained," she said. "But I never saw him do anything like drink, or anything like that. I just thought he'd gotten heavy. And he had a big bottle of water, Spring Mountain water, and he was the first person I ever saw drink bottled water."
hope this helps. elvislady![]()
