I loved this song when it was first discovered, but i'm not to keen on this version.

David Briggs produced that overdubbed version. I think it's great and I'd say if the source tape would have been of typical studio quality, the end result would have been a really beautiful track that might have even been an official single release in 1994.
How could it not have been a masterpiece, with Elvis' voice and lyrics like these?
