    Jungle Room Sessions Volume 2.

    Hi friends,
Having spent a few weeks with 'Made In Memphis' I like it more & more and sort of discovered its nice theme.

I also wandered off to create my own "Jungle Sessions Vol.2"
    (There's always more to discover.)

? By collecting together all the extra ?Jungle Room? tracks together from other BMG CDs you can compile yourself a very pleasing ?Jungle Room Session Vol.2?. Give it a try.

    Jungle Rooms Sessions, Vol.2

    1. For The Heart (Tk 1) (Platinum)
    2. Pledging My Love (Tk 3) (P)
    3. Way Down (Tk 2) (P)
    4. She Thinks I Still Care (Tk 2B) (70?s box)
    5. Hurt (Tk 5) (P)
    6. Danny Boy (Tk 9) (P)
    7. Solitaire (Tk 7) (Made in Memphis)
    8. She Thinks I Still Care (Tk 3,4) (MiM)
    9. For The Heart (5) (Tk MiM)
    10. Moody Blue (Tk 6) (MiM)
    11. Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall (Tk 1) (MiM)
    12. Love Coming Down (Tk 4) (MiM)
    13. She Thinks I Still Care (Tk 10) (TT&F)
    14. For The Heart (Tk 4) (TT&F)
    15. Hurt (Tk 5) (TT&F)
    16. Danny Boy (*Bonus off ?Tucson 76?)

I'm wasn't so sure about adding further live tracks, (Elvis never really got 'Moody Blue' right in concert) but perhaps an 'Unchained Melody' could be added?

I'm certainly NOT suggesting that FTD release this, as I am already fed up of buying the same old tracks all over again, but it is a CD that any real fan can make up for themselves.

    Give it a go!

    Cheers
    Piers

I've never heard it done in concert. Some claim he only did it once, some claim he did it a couple of times but even George Klein said he just didn't like doing it in concert.
Always wondered why because IMO its a pretty good song.

Piers, why do you think he didn't get it right in concert, whats your theory or opinion?

I cant remember the name of the concert, but if you look in Jordans site of the concerts you will find it. Elvis tried it one night, and he didnt get through it. The next night he did and got through it with a little goof. Its actually interesting to listen to.

Thanks for your post, Piers. I'm sure that would make a great listen. The alternate and undubbed JRS tracks are definitely a treat.

I think the inclusion of the live Danny Boy is great and an Unchained Melody performance would also work well.

I must say I was a little disappointed from the subject line because I thought you were announcing an upcoming release, which really surprised me given the inclusion of the Jungle Room tracks on Made In Memphis, and what little must remain.

On that note, I still haven't heard MIM. I have that and three others on order, and I've been waiting on them forever. (Lest I give the wrong impression, I did not order them from Piers' site...maybe I should have.)

I hope that we'll get more stuff of The Jungle Room from FTD later..

This is the kind of concept compilation I enjoy.

Over a year ago now I put together a disc 'Moody Blue And Other Alternate Performances', collecting the (then) remaining officially released outtakes from the Graceland sessions together with certain other hand picked tracks to create a kind of concept album and companion piece to the other existing albums of Jungle Room Material.

Though I wasn't the first to come up with such a concept, I did select the tracklist according to my own criteria. I also created some cover art to go with my selections which can be found here http://www.tcb-world.com/showthread.php?t=4166

Of course now, with the relase of Made In Memphis (a beauty of an album in my opinion) my tracklisting could use some reworking, or maybe even be re-worked into a 2 disc set.

However, for anyone interested, I outline the reasoning behind some of my original selections below. Whilst indeed he didn't deliver a 100 % polished version of Moody Blue live, I felt it still merrited inclusion. The live cut of Danny Boy will probably be conspicuous by it's abscence.

    The Concept.

The main objective on my compilation was to gather the remaining officially released outtakes from the box sets in one place to produce a CD which complements the master recordings and 'The Jungle Room Sessions' FTD disc.

Added to the official outakes from the box sets is the extended Moody Blue from 'More Pure Elvis' and a selection of my prefered undubbed performances from the 'Our Memories Of Elvis' CD.

Then, considering the original Moody Blue album included live performances, adding some live tracks to round out the project seemed a natural progression.

However, in keeping this project to one disc only, some of my initial selections had to be omitted, here's a brief comment on why I felt I wanted to include those live tracks that did make the final tracklist.

Early Morning Rain - general consensus is that Elvis was in great form during the short December 1976 tour, so the full length version from Birmingham 76 of this underrated 1971 Nashville sessions beauty had to be included here.

Trying To Get To You - this time from Dallas the previous night, arguably as close to the 1968 comeback version as you are likely to find - great performance !

Reconsider Baby - though it was performed on New Years Eve 76 too, this version was recorded 2 months later via soundboard and again its a very decent performance.

Moody Blue - love this song and so the only known live soundboard performance of this Jungle Room classic makes the shortlist.

Hurt - we revisit the Dallas show for this cracking performance with reprise, the stratospheric ending alone is enough to book this one a ticket for inclusion.

My Way - the definitive June 77 recording - essential inclusion.

Where No One Stands Alone - impromtu performance from February 77, at the piano and simply awesome !

Unchained Melody - same show (and same piano ) Elvis nails this performance too and since Unchained Melody was the first track on the original Moody Blue LP, this disc ends with an alternate performance of that song.

I thought of your project, Mark, when I read this post. That CD would be on an eternal loop in my player.
