    this blinding light of love

I know a piece of poetry which I enjoy reading so much that I want to share it with you all. You can read it as being some kind of vision:

'There was our world, and the world was dark, because there weren?t any robins.

The robins represented love. And for the longest time there was just this darkness..

All of a sudden, thousands of robins were set free, and they flew down and brought this blinding light of love.

It seemed like that love would be the only thing that would make any difference - and it did'

I guess that this story is about God's love for our world and mankind. I feel that Elvis Presley also represents (cosmic & divine) love, just like the robins. Not many can match his sense for spiritual depth and loving warmth for other people.

I sometimes read the lines of this story when I feel blue and it really comforts me.

    memories still linger..

That is beautiful. There is a short story/picture book called "Old Turtle and the Broken Truth" that is sort of in this vein that I think you would like It is written by Douglas Wood and illustrated by Jon J Muth and is a truly beautiful story and book with a wisdom for the ages. I know you wouldn't be dissapointed.
Got my family, my kids, my books and my music, I'm good, yeah, I'm good.....

I don,t know who knows abou Rumi persian poet in this forum , he is a great poet of love and mystic and philosophy. here is one of his poems I hope you enjoy it.
Those who don,t feel this love
    pulling them like a river
    those who don,t drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don,t want to change
    let them sleep........

    thank you!

Thank you Mistymorning, for sharing the poem with us. Of course it is difficult to keep rhyme intact while translating from Persian to English, but I do think that the literary meaning is evident.

Like many other Persian forms of art, this shows that the culture is very old and respectable.

thank you for your nice kind comment about persian literature, yes it is difficult to keep rhyme intact while translating from persian to english, but you can see the noblity of meaning and philosophy through the rhymes, what do yu think about this one?
The rose gives tiding of his beauty
    whenever beauty looks
    love is there
whenever beauty shows a rosy cheek
love lights her fire from that flame
when beauty dwells in the dark folds of night
love comes and finds a heart
    entangled in tresses
beauy and love are as body and soul
beauty is the mine, love is the diamond
    they have together
    since the beginning of time
side by side step by step.

Yes indeed, this verse is also great and it sounds just like a song. I guess that this kind of literature is a wonderful source of inspiration for songs. I like Persian poetry, just like the Greek branch.

Your poem about love & beauty describes my feelings for a specific person rather well. Thank you very much! I wish you starlight in your soul and heaven in your heart. May the robins remind you of the wonderful entity that you are and guide you on the way.

    It's a very nice poem...

One poem that is stuck to my mind (unfortunately) is a verse from PJ Proby's "Twenty-eight":
    I'm 28
    It's getting late,
    I don't what to do...

    the years are going,
    my fears are growing,
    my chances now are few.....

    I'm just getting nowhere....
I first heard it when I was 26 and already felt the fear a bit.... then became 27 and finally 28..... By now I'm 30 and wish still feel like I'm missing some direction. It's a pain when you feel that chances are indeed becoming fewer by years. Horrible when you're so aware of time and aging....

On the positive side, there are plenty songs that are really upbeat and can bring you up when you're feeling down....

    robins

Hey Albert, I'm really glad that you liked the poem.

I hope that the poem and the robins may comfort you.

I wonder what causes your fear? Sometimes it's hard to admit, but you shouldn't make it any tougher on yourself than necessary. Some people don't want to face their fears, but it's for the better if you do, I guess.

    Take care and God bless,
