how can you do a doccumentary on one sweater ?
Elvis singing, "Baby I don't Care".
Brian Reddin of Adare Productions an Irish TV Documentary maker is looking for info about the sweater Elvis is wearing in the above photo. It looks like it is based on the famous Aran knitwear often hand-knitted here in Ireland.
Anyone know anything at all about it?
A Documentary about the Elvis sweater narrated by "Ireland's Greatest Elvis fan" (George Twamley?) is in pre production.
George raises huge sums (Hundreds of thousands of Euros) for charity with his annual Elvis Presley events at the City West Hotel, county Dublin.
how can you do a doccumentary on one sweater ?
" Hi,
I wonder if anybody can help me. I am currently in pre-production on a
documentary about Elvis Presley for Irish television.
It's a documentary with a difference and a definite Irish angle.
In fact, it's a bit of fun - not your conventional documentary.
Basically the idea for the programme revolves around "Jailhouse Rock" and particularly the sweater that Elvis wore in the pool scene where he sings "Baby I Don't Care".
We have Ireland's biggest Elvis fan presenting this documentary and essentially it revolves around the idea that he is convinced that the sweater Elvis wears in "Jailhouse Rock" is in fact an Irish sweater.
I don't know if you are familiar with the Aran sweater from the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway.
The sweater looks a lot like one of those and the idea is that our
presenter, desperate to make some link to Ireland with Elvis, goes in
search of that sweater.
So, as you can see, it's a bit of fun.
So, we are on a quest to find that particular costume or at least try
and find out what became of it. Unfortunately, in all reference books
and internet sites we cannot find anyone listed for the wardrobe
department on "Jailhouse Rock".
Basically, we are trying to find out if anyone can give us the name of someone from the wardrobe department on that film or if there is any information regarding the costumes from that movie.
Did MGM keep their costumes? Are they lying in a warehouse somewhere? Is there any chance that sweater still exists
and if so, where might it be? Could you possibly give us any leads?
Any help or lead anyone can give us, no matter how small, would be
extremely helpful.
Thanks so much for your time.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards
Brian Reddin"
