Although I love both films, I have to say I prefer Jailhouse Rock. I can't really explain why, there's just something about it!!! King Creole probably gave Elvis his best chance at being a serious acotr, but I prefered the story line of J R!
Also I wasn't keen on the leading lady in King Creole, I thought Judy Tyler did a better job, but thats just my humble opinion! Specially the scene, "That ain't cheap tactics, honey, Its just the beast in me...."!!!! That scene still makes me giggle! lol
Life is beautiful, enjoy every second of it!! And don't forget to love!!

King Creole gave Elvis his one and only chance to show his acting potential. With Michael Curtiz and Walter Mattau et al he was in star company and it was amazing. I can understand why this was his own personal favourite, Elvis was a movie buff and he knew good acting when he saw it. I have to agree with him this was his best role. When you consider he wanted to be a serious actor, this exemplifies the possiblities he could have had. What if he had made the Rainmaker instead of Love me Tender and also A Star is Born in the 70's. Cinematically Elvis never realised his dreams or his true potential, how he stuck most of those crummy movies is amazing. Contracts and cold hard cash. A case of he coulda been a contender!!! Yet even though some movies are truly awful I still love to see him in them, I just wish he had fought harder for a better deal creatively

King Creole was probably his best acting performance, but as a movie I like Jailhouse Rock better.

I like Elvis as the "greasy punk" in Jailhouse Rock.I also like the songs from Jailhouse Rock, especially You're So Square and Treat Me Nice.

No competition for me, King Creole proved Elvis as an actor. When I played it for someone who has never seen it before they said, I've seen a lot of Elvis movies but in this movie sometimes I forgot it was him. He should have never gone into the ARMY and kept doing movies like King Creole, only with no singing at all.

I like the two,in Jailhouse Rock is more enterteining, and in King Creole one sees him in a paper more maturely, and the sonorous band in good, like that i remain with King Creole

    Thumbs up

I choose Jailhouse Rock quite simply and easily over King Creole just because of 1 single segment that will separate these 2 for eternity: The Jailhouse Rock dance segment was and is 2nd to none in any motion picture from Elvis or any other actor/actress could create for their movie. That was a classic that no one could ever challenge except by Elvis himself from the I got a Woman dance segment in Loving You !!

Hands down these were two of his best movies ever.I love them both and I just can't choose........my dad loved them both GOD rest his soul. You just can't beat the Jailhouse Rock number in the movie. My eight year old son loves it.....and almost all the time you will catch him trying to get those fantastic moves along with Elvis. So at this time I'm stuck on both movies.I think they both show just how good an actor Elvis could have been......had he was giving more roles such as these two.

I saw these films as a young girl when they originally came out in theaters. ELVIS on the big screen was so exciting for us kids of the 50's!!!
Loved both the movies and can't really pick a favorite. I would say that King Creole showed off his acting abilites the best.
My favorite movie will always be "Love Me Tender" because that is when I fell in love
    with ELVIS.

I will never forget you Rosanne.

It's tough because while most people will agree that technically KC is his best film, Jailhouse Rock and King Creole are probably on a par with one another as far as sheer entertainment value is concerned and that's what it's all about with Elvis.

Nevertheless, I voted KC because the acting, direction and overall beauty of the picture takes it to another level in his movie canon. It's a shame there wasn't more like it.

I love both of them. Simply Elvis at his best.
If I had to decide, I chose "Jailhouse Rock".

    “King Creole”

His performance is remarkable, beyond the singer is a true inspiration to transcend beyond the music. The actors (Vic Morrow, Walter Matthau and Carolyn Jones) is very professional and veteran director Michael Curtiz does a great job.

Also in this film seems the only duo that performs Elvis ("Crawfish"), which is seen as an interesting challenge.

"Jailhouse Rock" is very good, but I prefer "King Creole"
