SAME HERE. Just yesterday I posted that the only true friends to Elvis were Joe and Charlie, and Charlie was so nice and all...And then this morning I read the news...that IS creepy...and SAD. Well, the friends are finally together again, I guess that is good. And there's no pain there ..

    Very sad indeed...

Charlie always seemed the guy that spoke of his good friend Elvis in a very touching way. It always moved him talking about Elvis.

Maybe they're together again right now, let's hope so.

"Charlie Hodge lost his battle with lung cancer in the afternoon of Friday 3rd and passed away. Hodge, 71, was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2005 and despite this, he continued to perform at Memories Theatres for the love of his fans. He had a couple of radiation treatments in between December and January.

Charlie first met Elvis on the transport ship from New York to Germany, Sept. 1958, though they appeared together on a Red Foley show in 1956.
They remained friends until Elvis' death in 1977. Charlie was the guy singing back up, playing guitar, handed the water and the famous scarfs on stage in the Seventies.
Charlie also had an influence on the song list of the Seventies shows."

Letters of condolences may be sent to:

This is very sad. He was my favorite of the entourage too. May he find peace and happiness. I've no doubt that he IS harmonizing with Elvis right now.

I am sadden by this news. The erie thing is yestrerday afternoon I posted a photo in the Gallery of the two of them, at that time I didn't know of his passing.

Charlie rest in peace and now you can catch Elvis's guitar again when he throws it.

I dream a world where man no other man
will scorn. Where LOVE will bless the earth
    and peace its paths adorn...

The sadest day I ever had in 25 years.

    Glad I met you, Charlie.

    God bless you

It's sad to hear, that one of the best friends of Elvis has passed away. Charlie seemed to have been a nice guy. Because of being a little bit overprotective he may not have been the right person to learn the truth about the king, but I guess he told his stories from wonderland just to protect Elvis and the image of him in the public.

At least they are together now.

    Rest In Peace, Charlie

A very sad loss...a dear friend to Elvis on and off stage.

    Rest well, Charlie.
"I oughta break you in half!"...

"If you do, you'll have two very short friends!"

He came to Leicester a few years ago and it was a fan club event.
He was on stage talking about Elvis and saying how amazing it was that the new generation of fans who weren`t even born when Elvis was alive love him.
It makes me cry he said and then he got all emotional.
He spent ages signing autographs for everyone. A very sad loss.
Anybody got any memories of meeting Charlie that we can all share?

    I'm one of those...
I agree with ForeverTheKing- hopefully these two goofs are jamming up there, making a LOT of noise yeah, thinking that way makes me feel a lot better..

Thank you Dovey for the link to the '77 Concert with Elvis singing Unchained Melody. I'm not one to cry easily but that scene brings tears to my eyes every time. Charlie looked so concerned as always didn't he? Bless him for his kindness and caring for Elvis all those years. I do believe he always felt he should have done something more but don't we all after losing a dear one?
