I was ten as well but I was a fan before that because though my folks weren't huge Elvis fanatics like I'd become, they had a couple of records of his in their albums and I spent a lot of my time as a kid listening to their records. When Elvis died WGN and other channels would have Elvis Marathons twice a year for years so it just grew from there.
I wasn't even thought of when Elvis passed. He passed four years before I was born. I don't know how I became an Elvis fan either. I guess it was because of my mom. She loves watching those old movies stations like AMC and TCM and I used to watch them with her. I guess I caught an Elvis movie and fell in love.
I was 11 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just got home from school when my dad called and told me the news and to turn on the tv. I was glued to it and crying when my mom got home. Very sad day. We had just got tickets to see him at the end of the month, and had just seen him the previous year. It was quite a shock.
Got my family, my kids, my books and my music, I'm good, yeah, I'm good.....
I was born in 1982 -- my parents weren't even married yet in 1977.
I was 14 months old!![]()

i wasn't born
I was about 12...
But I liked his music earlier, knowing nothing about the man at the time....
In 1977 things changed.
I really got into Elvis and his music, young as I was.
That's something that will never change.
Elvis' been here, all of my life. A part of my life, really.
Sonny
Im 15 years so i was born too late.

I wish I was alive during those times, but I wasn't born until 1984.
On the hills of Georgia
Across the plains of Tennessee
I've seen and I've done most everything
That a man can do or see
I was 6 years old
I remember walking back home with my brothers and some teenage girls came running out of their house crying and told us Elvis died! When we got home our mother had also just heard the news on the radio and was crying too.
I will never forget that day.
I do though wish I was alive back when Elvis was, that would be amazing to have gotten to see him live in concert, etc.

I wasn't born yet when he died. I was born in January 6, 1982 just two days before his birthday.
It was a few months away from my Tenth birthday when Elvis passed away, so in August 1977 I was 9.

I was ten and wasn't a fan.. but thankful for this, cause I know it would've hit me too bad..
nevertheless, being a fan took me only less than a year..
I was 9. My dad was an Elvis fan but I wasn't until several years later. I remember how hot and humid it was that day and my friend and I were riding our bikes around the block. We stopped by my house to get a drink and my mother told us that he had died. That's all I remember. I don't recall any newspaper stories or anything on tv about his death![]()
I was -6 years old, LoL. I became a fan in 1997, after seein him on the news when the 20th death anniversary was announced. I first mixed him with LaBamba, another singer..I had not long before seen a movie about the latter one and liked his songs and Elvis looked somehow similar, so...I started buying Elvis' records, hopin to find the LaBamba's song I loved so much. Of course, I didn't succeed, lol. BUTTTTTTTT I got to like Elvis very muchWell, you can imagine the rest of the story
