They had enough trouble getting him even into a studio, let alone convince him to re-hash his old hits!
Ive allways love Elvis music in the 60s and even the 50s and some from the 70s.
but i wish that people at rca pushed Elvis to re-re-recorded his early songs
mostly his biggest hits like....Hound Dog...Don't...don't Be Cruel...trouble
and few of his 60s ...Fame And Fortune.Litle Sister..His Latest Flame..
now he don't really have to do all of them but only a few of them.
I almost fogot he even could do some of his old sun recordings.
and Blue Christmas would have done even better in the 70s then his 50s version.
but they didn't.

The Sun Never Sets On A Legend...
I don't know why Elvis should have re-recorded his old stuff. But he should have sung a lot more of his old songs in his shows. He had so many songs, that he could have done several great show concepts. I believe that many fans would have loved to hear some tunes from his movies or other greates hits than Hound Dog and Teddy Bear. A great Vegas show for example could have been:
Intro (first bars of Viva Las Vegas while Elvis enters the stage)/VIVA LAS VEGAS/BOSSA NOVA BABY/RETURN TO SENDER/SUCH A NIGHT/RECONSIDER BABY/DON'T/CRYING IN THE CHAPEL/GOOD TIME CHARLIE'S GOT THE BLUES/BIG BOSS MAN/LET YOURSELF GO/WAY DOWN/YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE (Elvis at the piano)/BLUE EYES CRYING IN THE RAIN (Elvis at the piano)/TROUBLE/LITTLE EGYPT/SWING DOWN SWEET CHARIOT/RUN ON/MOODY BLUE/SHE THINKS I STILL CARE/IT'S EASY FOR YOU/THEY REMIND ME TOO MUCH OF YOU/YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL/EXIT THEME
I would have loved to have heard a live version of songs like Fame And Fortune, Gently, this would have been great if Elvis had done a few of these songs live during the 1970's.
"How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977
