Track 24 - Recorded Live in Hampton Roads, VA. on August 1, 1976

The show is a very generic 1976 performance with Elvis singing quite high-pitched (think about 'Girl Happy') and quite lazy. And that's very sad, because the soundquality is very, very good: everything sounds very wellbalanced: Elvis in the center, all instruments clearly hearable, a good focus on the backing vocals and even the audience can be heard (something that's missed on so many soundboards, giving it the feeling that ELvis performs for just a few people in a small room).

Elvis seems to be in a pretty good mood and the bonustrack (Return to Sender) is a nice extra. It's only because it's rare, but the performance itself isn't that special.

My advise is to buy it: eventhough the show is standard, the sound makes this cd a must-have. Sell one of the other generic '76 shows instead

I gave the cd one more spin and compared it with some more 1976 shows. I have to say that this performance (despite Elvis' somewhat highpitched voice) is above average.

So this cd gives the listener an above average show, by an upbeat Elvis in very good soundquality.

I'm listening to this show right now and only thing I can say is that I don't particulair like it. Elvis' singing is very very weak and unsteady. He sounds uninspired compared to other shows - even from 1976. Another FTD bummer.....just my humble opinion though...for people who like it: enjoy it.!

Got this one for Christmas....Elvis doesn't sound like he's feeling to well imo, but the sound quality is excellent for a SB recording

Although it's an average show - contentwise - I like it. I totally agree that Elvis sounds a bit highpitched.
Return to Sender live is rare and those are lucky who have the entire Hampton '76 show ...
The pictures used for the cover are good. I like the way Elvis had his hair during that and, I think, the following tour. But what happened to the Elvis-logo at least on the front? The colours are far from being separated from each other and especially the thin lines look crap. Something that mustn't happened.
