I don't think the Colonel would have gone for it. I've read that, Elvis did not want to do, A Star Is Born, he told the Colonel to make his demands tough so they would refuse Elvis.
To be honest, I really did not like that movie.
The Colonel had all these perks worked into the publishing firm where he and his friends gained most of the profits. That's what Alana Nash wrote in her about Elvis and The Colonel.
It was really tough for Marty Lacker to get Elvis to record from other publishing companies. Marty presented, Moody Blue to Elvis in 1973 and he recorded it in 76 or 77, that should give you an indication as to how tough if was.

Seeing it a hypothetical question. Lets see he seemed to like singing with Ann Margret. Voices that i think would have gone well together with Elvis Tom Jones, Janis Joplin, (especially on something like Wearin That Loved on Look).

As it's a hypothetical question if he was still alive i think Elvis and kd lang would sound fabulous together. Nice smooth ballad.

The only other singer I really would have loved to hear Elvis sing a duet with is Tina Turner...boy they would have rocked!

I never would have thought of that Diane, but that is a GREAT idea!! That would have been something...I can think of several TT songs that he would have done a fabulous job with.

kd lang? She does have a wonderful mellow voice, but would it have stood out enough?
After hearing Elvis singing opera on a cd I just bought, I think Pavrotti would be a good choice for a duet.

Just pretend, I'm holding you, and whispering things soft and low.
And think of me, how it's gonna be and just pretend I didn't go

I'd like to have heard him sing a hard rock song with Paul Rodgers of Free or Jimi Jamieson from Survivor,a fellow Memphian,I believe.(big Elvis fan too). Both these guys have amazing voices.

Re: Do You Think Elvis Would Have Recorded With Other Artists?

    Great topic!
I was listening to U2 and BB King doing "Before Love Came to Town" and I thought how cool would it have been for Elvis to do this song with either artist.
The first time I saw the footage from EOT where he lets the Stamps sing "Sweet Spirit" I gained a new level respect for our boy. He loved the song and loved their voice and so wanted to share the song with the audience, just such a moment where you get to see the "real" Elvis.
In some ways I wonder if Elvis would have had the confidence to record duets, it boggles the mind but the boy was always so insecure.
My list of duet wishes are-BB King, U2(huge Elvis fans), Aretha, and Adele.

Forgot about Janis Joplin.I think she's the only other singer who sang with such feeling and intensity as Elvis.Love Cry Baby.

The only female vocalist I would hypothetically like to hear alongside Elvis would be Chaka Khan, a soft yet powerful voice that would compliment Elvis perfectly. Tina Turner and Janis Joplin are great too but can sound a little heavy vocally in my opinion.

I donīt know if he would have recorded songs with someone else. But I know I wouldnīt like hearing him sing with someone else... except Lisa Marie.

Well, it's really interesting idea! Elvis' voice is a brilliant. It shines by itself! But mixed with beautiful voice of other really talented person it look (sound) like a brilliant in a golden rim. That would be a masterpiece!! So it's a matter of choice of "that person".
