"Wait a minute, there is something with my lip...." (sorry couldn't resist, love Joaquin, honest!!!)

With Reese Witherspoon as June Carter.

Trivia for Walk the Line (2005)

Joaquin Phoenix performed all of the songs himself without being dubbed and learned to play guitar from scratch.
Reese Witherspoon sang all of Carter's vocals for the film herself.

June Carter died before production began on the film, so Reese Witherspoon's research included looking through Carter's closet for inspiration.

Johnny Cash chose Joaquin Phoenix to play him in the film. June Carter reportedly chose Reese Witherspoon for her role in the film also.

Sony, Universal, Focus Features, Paramount, and Warner Bros. all passed on the project.

Reese Witherspoon did her own singing. She also had to learn to play the auto-harp.

It took four years for the producers to secure the rights to the story from James Keach who is a friend of Johnny Cash and his family. After Keach agreed, it took another four years to get the film made.

Columbia Pictures passed on the project.

    Tyler Hilton as Elvis

Never heard of this guy before (Paris Hilton's bro???), so did some searching:

    From Ellegirl.com:
Singer-songwriter and One Tree Hill actor Tyler Hilton was interested in music from an early age. His musical family encouraged him to play guitar, sing, and perform. By the age of seventeen, he was writing his own songs, and had become an open mic fixture in his hometown of Palm Springs, California. Signed by Maverick Records in 2000, his career began to take off. Hilton joined the cast of the WB's One Tree Hill in 2004, as the troubled singer Chris Keller. He recently landed the coveted role of Elvis Presley alongside Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line. Tyler's engaging blend of pop-rock, husky voice, catchy lyrics and mellow demeanor place him alongside John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw, musically speaking. And he's pretty sweet to look at too! (But you already knew that.) If you haven't heard his first album or his tunes off of the One Tree Hill soundtrack, you'll definitely want to check them out now.

It is a great movie, even if the Elvis part is a bit off. Joaquin does a great job and so does Reese. It's a fascinating portrayal of Johnny Cash from his beginnings through the drug years and out again married to June and clean and on top of the Country scene!
