On my college campus, we recently had a discussion about the song "American Pie" in which Don McLean claims that the day the music died was when Buddy Holly died. Granted, given a longer life, Buddy could have become a big star, but fate intervened and he died....I say that Don was wrong.... music died the day Elvis died..... anybody with me? I mean, I am 21 years old and the new music acts that come around today bore me.... they have the same look, the same style, it's stupid.... Elvis did everything... and he did it first..... that's why he's the best.

I don't know what I have done, the day the music died (I was only one year old back then), but I agree with your comments on today's music scene. Elvis and his backup groups could really sing and he had real musicans, not some f&%?) computers doing all the work.
Well, at least Elvis was real; he was a great live performer - this is in contrast with a lot of today's manufactured 'stars'...
A lot of people may think it's silly, but I do think that Elvis was musically intact till the very end.
With respect wasn`t the song American Pie done before Elvis died was it 1975 and if so then he wasn`t leaving out Elvis he was obviously someone who admired Buddy Holly and I for one am a fan of his he was one of the first singer/songwriters and his songs are classics.
