can't see amything wrong with these books, i just saw the Elvis movie of his early days (some young dude is playing E but the songs are sung by E...not a bad movie the guy has E speaking voice down ok at least, i was wondering why the cigar muncher had all of E's books burned, jez we can't have the guy getting wise to the one arm bandit...Redroo...

I heard that Elvis' books were burned because they didn't want him getting too deep into things and taking his mind off of his career... I see this as the downfall in his life, let alone his career, when people start regulating what you can read and what you can't read.... clearly someone has too much control and it's not E!

In 1965/66 I don't know pricize, Elvis felt in his bathroom. He almost knocked his self out. He burst with his head towards the end of the sink. He was all shoooked up. he had a big spot on the back of his head that had the shape of a golf ball. That day the Colonel came. He told everybody that Elvis must stayed in bed, and that nobody must disturbed him. The colonel was with him a couple of hours. After that the Colonel called Everyone in. Lamar, Charlie, Larry, Gene, Joe, everybody.. He told them if they had problems or so they must had come to Joe not to Elvis anymore. The conversation took place in the bedroom, Elvis was sitting in his bed, he was sitting there with his head down facing the end of the bed the whole conversation. Someother points were named in that conversation, I don't know presize what others. But after the conversation, The Colonel told Elvis that he must destroyed his books. It was not good for him. THen a couple of weeks later Priscilla told him that too. So he did it. It was that time that Larry got away by Elvis till 1972. 'Cause Elvis didn't care for philosphy and spiritual anymore. Larry became an outsider. Later in 1972 Elvis told Larry this (about what happend here above)'You where gone, the Colonel was brainwashing me, Cilla was against my spiritual interests. I coundn't go on like that. I just did like I didn't care you know, but I always believed in God'. And in 1976:'I've burned the books with Priscilla, she was happy I get rid of them. But I always kept a few. You where gone, I couldn't be myself anymore. I coudn't read what I wanted to read'. After the dead of Elvis, Vernon destroyed many books. Elvis made little notes in it. Vernon was afraid that people where going to think bad about the thoughts of Elvis he wrote down in the books he had.

He also readed and make notations on: The Stranger, by Albert Camus.

People focused on the kind of esoteric lectures that Elvis liked, but he also readed other kinds of books, dont know exatly a list of them.
