    Different Elvis Closing Song

I think we all agree that "Cant Help Falling In Love" was a great closing song. But if Elvis ever decided to go with a different one, what do you think would be the best choice?

A couple of my choices would be "Its Easy For You", "Until Its Time For You To Go", and "Funny How Time Slips Away".

He could alternate as a closing song with:

    '69 What I Say
Feb '70 Let It Be Me, The WOnder Of You.

Afer here the song will link with the respetive closing vamp at the time...
Aug Sep Nov '70 Mystery Train Tiger Man, Suspicious Minds.
Nov '71: Mystery Train Tiger Man, Suspicious Minds.
April '72 Thats all Rigt If he opened with C.C. Rider, could Burning Love have worked?
June '72 I Can Stop Loving You
'74: A medley: My Baby Left Me/Thats All RIght
'75: Big Boss Man which was also an alternate opener

It's hard to imagine Elvis using anything else, but if I had to choose any other closing song I'd choose something CLASSIC! To me, the only other song that fits the bill is "Love Me Tender" 70's style. Other choices are "My Way" or "American Trilogy".

I think Elvis was looking for a big closing song that would end things with a bang. Something where he could hit a high note and there would be a big orchestral flourish. "Can't Help" fit the bill perfectly. And the lyrical theme is gentle and loving.

I really can't imagine him ending a concert with a quiet introspective tune like "It's Easy For You". Great tune, but I think he was looking for something bombastic.

maybe the 'wonder of you' would be a good closing number.

    or 'IM LEAVIN'

Agreed, I didnt think of "Wonder Of You", but I think that could have worked very well.

Everyboy is going for the big ballads, I gues thats the efect Elvis wanted using Cant Help Falling In Love. Anyway I like a powerful rocker to close the show, that could have serve well too...

Remember on "THis Is Elvis" how they edited Suspicious Mind making it look as it was the show closer?

Indeed, a good "rocker" as a closing song isn't that bad...

It's funny, because I've had this discussion also yesterday with a friend. I told him that Can't Help falling In Love was the ultimate song to end an Elvisshow. I can't come up rightaway with another song to close the show.

When I heard "Young And Beautiful" on the FTD cd with the EOT Rehearsals, I thought that would have been a great closing song.

I always thought "Let It Be Me" would be a great show closer, or he could take a queue from his earlier concerts and close with a Killer Version of Hound Dog, specifically the treatement he gave it on the '69 In Person Album, but longer and will all verses/lyrics.

I have to agree with you Albert. While there were dozens of GREAT songs Elvis could have used to close his shows, I really don't think there is a more appropriate song for him to have closed a show with than CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE. What a way to say thank you to the fans and to express his feelings for them.

Funny How Time Slips Away, I like the shows where he used the The Impossible Dream as his closer. He could have maybe closed the shows with How Great Thou Art or WHre No one Stands Alone.
