    CHFIL is a great closing number. However, An American Trilogy would've been the ultimate show closer IMO.

    The sheer power of the song itself, plus with it's dramatic ending playing in to the closing vamp would've been the perfect way to send Elvis off the stage.

    I always felt this song should've at least been played just before the closing song (if not be the final song in the show). Has anyone ever noticed after he performs the song in Aloha From Hawaii that he has this "my gosh I gotta do another song after this one" look on his face?

    for rock songs mabye a complete version of Get Back, or Big Boss Man

    those are rather downer songs to end on.

    I think That's allright Mama or trying to get to you would have worked well.

    but singing a love song as a thank you to the audience was probably the best choice
