I just can't get enough of "Funny how time slips away" -- I really enjoy Elvis in that style of singing. Would anyone know when this song was originally recorded? What else would someone who likes this song enjoy??

Well I have it on vinyl LP recorded 1971, written by Willie Nelson, LP is "Elvis Country" RCA. I like Snowbird, There Goes My Everything, Make the World Go Away, And I Love You So, I Can Help, This Is The Story, From a Jack to a King, and Without Love.

Hi Cutiepie, Tommy is correct. The song was written by Willie Nelson but he was not the first one to record it. Billy Walker recorded the song first in 1961.
Later in 1962 Willie Nelson recorded his own composition.
The version of Elvis on "I'm 10.000 Years Old" was recorded on June 7, 1970.

You mean the version as on the "Now" album? The song "I Was Born About 10.000 Years Ago" was not really a serious attempt to record a song. It was part of a jam session, just foolin' around in the studio. Someone had the spirit to start the recorder otherwise we would have missed it. That why there's no intro.

Three very good country songs from Elvis are "For The Good Times", "She Thinks I Still Care", and "Theres A Honky Tonk Angel (Who'll Take Me Back In)".

The latter one being so country I was shocked that it was Elvis.

I think this an aspect of Elvis that doesn't get discussed too much or that the general public knows very little of but I like it. He had a quality in his voice that made country songs very listenable, even to someone not a fan of country music.

My favorites are " I'm So Lonsome I Could Cry", "Just Pretend", "A little Cabin on the Hill", "There Goes My Everything", "Green Green Grass of Home" and "Pieces of my Life". (Yes, "Today" is one of my favorite albums!)
