    lyrics question

    Hello!

    I've been listening to Bridge Over Troubled Waters a lot recently--hit a rough spot in life!

    And I've been wondering whether I'm hearing the lyrics correctly--when Elvis sings:

    "...sail on silver girl, sail on by,
    your time has come to shine..."

    who, or what is referred to as "silver girl"? I'm not even sure if that's what the lyrics is--could be a mondegreen....

    Hello,
    "Silver Girl" according to Paul Simon is a half joke line referring to his live in partner at the time (Peggy) and her discovery of 3-4 gray hairs in her head. Hope this helps!
