Going to Memphis next month

...I have a job interview at the university of Tennessee, so I will be there for 4 days, after that I'll be in Dallas for 2 weeks, for another couple of interviews and to visit my family- I'm more excited about going to Memphis than seeing my family!!!

...obviously I will be visiting Graceland and Sun Studios, where else should I go?

ive been to memphis once in 2002,i dont no were you are stopping in memphis ,i stopped in the ramadan,next to beale street.i asked the woman at the reception how to get to graceland,she said she didnt know so i got a normal buss.i knew there was a free buss going to all the elvis sights but i coudnt wait so i got the normal one.my advice is to wait for the sun studios buss to come,its all free and the driver says to you over the next 100 yards you will be seeing graceland on youre left hand side.when i was on the normal buss i didnt experience this( i wish i had )

There are so many things to do in Memphis so get ready for an awesome trip. Ive been to many places in the U.S. but Memphis is one of my favorites. There is just something about that city that is awesome, its hard to explain, but you'll see what Im talking about. A cool place I went to was B.B. King's Blues Club. I hope you have a fun, safe trip. Let us know how it goes.

just had a thought- what is the weather like in November???? I imagine it's tropical compared to the UK mind you!

The average temperature for November in Memphis are from 68 F to 57 F. Or 20 C to 14 C

HI. I'm from Memphis and went to college there and some of my favorite places (besides Beale Street and Graceland) are:

Pink Palace Museum

Mud Island (especially the museum there)

Overton Park and the Botanical Gardens (might not be great in Nov. though)

Rendesvous (great Ribs wet or dry, voted best in Memphis while I was there)

Take a river ride on the Memphis Belle and have dinner .

The Peabody Hotel (great restaurant called Dux) also call ahead and see when they bring the ducks down, it's pretty cool. You can also get a horse and carriage ride that takes you through downtown if it's not too cold.

The Smithsonian Rock and Roll Museum. They have a great section on Elvis there. And you never know who might be performing. I met Howling Wolf's son there.

If the weather is nice and you're on Beale go to Handy Park. Local blues musicians sometimes play out there. It's pretty cool.

LibertyLand (if it's still there) Elvis loved this park. He would ride the "zippin Pippin" over and over. I think there is a sign there stating that.

See anything at the Orpheum. It is a grand old theater and beautiful.

The Cotton Exchange Building. Really beautiful and old. Used in the movie "The Firm"

Drive down Central AVe. You'll come to a stretch with giant oak trees and southern Mansions and old churches. It's an amazing stretch of old Memphis homes.

Probably more but I can't think of any. Memphis State University used to have a great Egyptian exhibit with mummies and great artifacts.
