Since Graceland officially opened in 82, how many visitors to the mansion and grave do you think there's been? My estimation is somewhere around 15-20 million. Before you start making an estimate take into account that there's the ticets sold for daily tours, the free early morning visits to the gravesite before the doors open each day, and the candlelight vigil on each eve of each anniversary of his death.
The reason I started this thread is to show how loved, admired, and how much of interest and importance that Elvis still is this many years now after his death. I can't think of another human being that matches this accomplishment in death.
In 2007 alone there were more than 700,000 paid attendance who visited Graceland and more than 70,000 who attended the largest and longest running candleight vigil ever.
With EPE's big expansion plan for the coming years, I predict by 2017, the 40th anniversary, that the numbers will possibly triple and be around 50 million since 82 with an average of 2 million per year. Then the phrase "50 million Elvis fans can't be wrong", from the 50's album title, will have true meaning.
No one keeps exact figures, but the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau estimated up to 75,000 people would be drawn to town for the anniversary week.
Graceland draws almost 600,000 visitors a year and up to 40,000 file through the three-storey white-columned house during Elvis Tribute Week

Yeah I remember them predicting that there would be about 70-80,000 for the 30th but the numbers ended up being much higer than they originally expected which was a great thing for both EPE and the city.Originally Posted by presley31
I think the actual number was just over 105,000 for the week. It was the biggest Elvis Week to date.
