VERY INTERESTING IDEAS FOR THIS YEAR ROR!!!

I DEFINITELY appprove of the single selections you made for MY BOY and T-R-O-U-B-L-E!! I've always thought SUSAN WHEN SHE TRIED was an underrated song, and deserved more attention than it received! I think pairing it with T-R-O-U-B-L-E is a GREAT idea!! Definitely an improvement over the original flipside, MR. SONGMAN, which is a song that I just never really could get into!

I'm not real sure about the SHAKE A HAND/I CAN HELP single though....what about BRINGIN' IT BACK? I know it was the original flipside of PIECES OF MY LIFE, but maybe having made BRINGIN' IT BACK the single would have given Elvis another hit single in '75? (Not that there is anything wrong with PIECES OF MY LIFE...that is one of my all-time favorite Elvis songs!) But since we now know that PIECES wasn't a huge chart success, looking back on things, maybe BRINGIN' IT BACK would have been a better potential hit single? Maybe pairing BRINGIN' IT BACK with either SHAKE A HAND or I CAN HELP would have been an idea??

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with your idea of releasing LITTLE DARLIN' as a single. While it is a cute song and one that was neat for a change of pace in Elvis' shows, I certainly can't imagine it being a hit single for Elvis. If the public didn't see the hit potential in a beautiful ballad like PIECES OF MY LIFE, I rfeally don't think LITTLE DARLIN' would have done any better. The medley on the "B" side is definitely a gutsy choice, although a very unique one...perhaps with a different "A" side, this would be a good single to release to promote the ELVIS AS RECORDED LIVE ON STAGE IN MEMPHIS album!!

I like your re-vamping of the tracks on the TODAY album, although I am not sure about your title....perhaps something different would sound better to me??

I REALLY LIKE your idea for the double-LP set for the ELVIS AS RECORDED LIVE ON STAGE IN MEMPHIS, using tracks from both the '74 and '75 Memphis shows! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT IDEA!!! The only thing I would change is having all the tracks on each side of the albums be from one year only, instead of mixing them up, just for the sake of continuity. "Side A" could be from '74, "Side B" from '75, "Side C" from '75 and Side "D" from '74. Otherwise, this is a FANTASTIC idea!!!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK ON THESE ROR!!! While I haven't responded to many of your other "As It Should Have Been" posts yet, I have read most of them and will eventually get around to answering all of them!!

    TCB!

Hey thanks for your reply man; yeah I know Little Darling cound?t be a hit single at all, its a single aimed to the fans, makes sense? no haha... what really happens is that I run out of material, don?t have any more potential hit singles till the Jungle Room Sessions on february 76. The idea anyway is to promote the Live album, so maybe... Let Me Be THere? If You Love Me Let Me Know? yeah any of those could be better choices... I was thinking a little bit on John Lennon ROck And ROll Album, and his Stand By Me respective single released around the same time in '75 when I thought about Little Darling... But yes youre right, It could not be the best choice.

On the Boocklet of the 70's Box Walk a Mile... which is what Ive been using as guide, it says that Bringing it Back was the A side and Pieces Of My Life the B side and It Reached as Low as 65, one of the few Elvis singles that didnt made the top 40; so thats what I think maybe some more uptempo number will do better, maybe not hit singles, but at leat maybe they could enter the top 40; not that I dislike Pieces of My Life, I think is a wonderfull song, its a great performance, but maybe to slow for a single, really don?t know why, its a great song, but it didnt reached to high.

About the new title for the Today album, dont like my title to much either haha... just that I cant come up with something, Today is kind of common place, dont like it, this is the kind of music that make me think of highways. Dont know, maybe we can just call it: Bring it it Back.

I think LET ME BE THERE might have been a decent choice....it was a great performance, although it was a cover tune (and if I remember correctly, Olivia Newton-John's version had been on the charts shortly before Elvis covered it in Memphis in '74). So maybe the public wouldn't have accepted Elvis' version because it had just been on the radio and charts by ON-J??

I had completely forgotten about BRINGIN' IT BACK technically being the "A Side" of that single...guess my idea on that wasn't all that great...

I'll have to give some thought to the title of the 1975 album though....I agree that TODAY is a pretty bland title! (even though it is my favorite Elvis album!)

THANKS AGAIN for a great conversation piece ROR!!!

    TCB!
