Really! Wow, that's definitely worth calling out then. Of course, Dusty recorded at the American, so I guess the brains behind naming Elvis' album figured that was what you were supposed to call your album after recording there.

Regarding your live album title, I must point out that the Doors had an album of that name out the following year (which you may be aware of), so...

Great post though, ROR. I've been enjoying these.

Yeah I know about the Doors, but this is a year before so we got the idea first so they stole it form us! hahaha

Did You Know that Jerry Schef played Bass For Jim And the Doors on their '71 L.A. WOman? it was Ray Manzarek idea, a big Elvis fan, and suposedly, Jim Morrison asked Jerry about Elvis all the time...

About From Elvis in Memphis, I think it was not smart at all to use a title used before, but anyway those were other times, as you say it was probalby like you supose to call your album like that if you recorded at the american

You know, it would be one thing if there had been an album out like 'From Dolly In Nashville'. That would still make Elvis' title a little unoriginal, but that there had already been a 'From (Someone) in Memphis' makes it especially lame.

Yeah, I knew about Scheff being the "fifth Door" on L.A. Woman. It's really cool to me because before I discovered Elvis (which was very Sam Phillips of me), it was the Doors' music that I listened to the most.

I agree with you guys on the choice of LP-title. Just one interesting thing i noticed when I saw a Dusty documentary the other day. Dusty NEVER recorded at the American. She went there but appearantly was too intimidated buy all the great music that had been produced there. So the music ended up being recorde din Memphis and her vocals in New York. Still.... it was a great album!

Ah, so it should have been From Dusty In New York (And The Band In Memphis)! Thanks for that interesting point of information, Linda. I like her music a lot, what I've heard of it anyway. I would have liked to have seen that documentary.
