As it Should have been! '65

    1965

This year was exiting I mean The Beatles Help and Rubber SOul, THe ROlling STones Satisfaction Single, Dylan?s Highway 61. Yet this was probably the lowest point on Elvis carrer, no wonder why '60 people have this somekind of underated image of our man, I Mean, The WHo's first Album against: Girl Happy? yes, It is Laughable, when Elvis came out with a soudtrack with a "lets say '50 or early 60's" quality standard, as it was for example Roastabout, no matte if the Stones or the Beatles were here, he would get a No1, but the fact is that after Viva las Vegas all soudtracks were a slow down hill, and we didn?t have a studio album till '67 How Great THou Art, a master piece, but yet nothing to do with the rock scene where Elvis once belonged, it was a huge gap in musical change between '62 and '68. So the '63 album in this series of threads may have helped a little bit on that. But for the year of 1965 we need a miracle.

    Albums

Love, Elvis 01/65 If Elvis was out of touch with the rockers maybe he could still have it on the romantic side. Roastabout was knocked out of his no 1 spot by Beatles 65, I guess an ELvis Love SOngs collection, the very first one was the only possible Elvis thing that could have been able to knock the Beatles 65 again of the No 1 spot..

    Side A)

    Love Me
    Don?t
Anyway You Love me That how I Will Be
    I Need Your Love TOnight

    Surrender

    Girl Happy 03/65

SameTrack list exept that I Would Leave out "Do The CLam" and "THe Meanest Girl in TOwn". Youll Be GOnne, the bonus song was on Fun IN Acapulto now so the Bonus songs would be:

    Echoes Of Love
    Love Me TOnight.

Making of these a 12 track "cheap stuff coated with teenage sugar" album, I Hate it, but this way I guess will do better.

ELvis For Everyone 08/65 Not Released I Mean that title is like they were srceaming loud, Elvis. just like popcorn or bubblegum!

Elvis His Lattest FLame 3 08/65 I Gues we will survive this summer a little bit better with a great collection of good rockers and blues instead of the elvis for everyone thing. For the COver I Like to use one of those Elvis in BLack LEather photos used on Roastabout

Glad You like it Lonniebealestreet! don?t know why but I have this thing that everytime I buy an album no matter if it is a classic one like the Beatles Sgt Pepper?s or Radiohead Ok COmputer or something like that im always like, mmm.. no, I think this song should have been before this one and stuff like that, so being an Elvis fan, Ive always felt RCa is making and effort to torture me, this thoughts have been on my mind for a long time...

You got to remember that to the world -away from the Rock world" the Beatles and Stones etc were just fads.(as many thought Elvis would be in the 50s) They saw Elvis as having graduated to the next level by going into movies. The expectation was that eventually he would mature into drama ala Sinatra-Crosby.
Elvis himself was expecting that he would sometime move on to real acting. Sgt. Pepper ,looking back now, is seen as huge by the whole world of entertainment and arts. Back then it was (except to the rock world) just another album by a long haired group. Girl Happy was considered a hit soundtrack album by Hollywood and the entertainment establishment. Elvis movies were still making huge profits. Today the comparison of the two shows where the Col. seemingly did not take care of business. But many were thinking Rock would still die out. Elvis was a movie star "first" in 65, a singer second. Its sad to think of what he might have done during the movie years if he had not done 3 a year.

Haha.. Yes Lonniebealestreet its seems like RCA right from '56 till now is trying to do it as worst as they could.

KPM your right, what really happened in '65 is that Elvis was already more of a movie star than a singer, at least that how ELvis management wanted to be; I think the big mistake was that instead of push Elvis into more serious roles, into simply good movies, they keep him as light teenage entretainer, they burned him into that roll, and even if they still thought that Rock and Roll was just a fad by '66 it was more than obvious that the teenagers were no longer after that kind of Pop bubble gum like Girl Happy (just see how elvis album charting go down under after mid '66) THe problem then from '66 till '68 was that Elvis was neither the singer (whatever style) neither the movie star, things suddenly changed, and elvis for a while looked as the just about became a teenidol has been... While By 1966 The Beatles started to show that they were no longer bubble gum and that the next step didnt have to be been buried the Hollywood way.

Tommy you are always great, thanks you for your kind words.
