Fan Clubs - Things will never be the same again?

Just as a follow-up to the recent threads surrounding the proposed release of a 2-hour DVD entitled "The Making of Elvis On Tour" - as stated this was supposed to be released in September but was only going to be made available via the British Fan Club in Leicester, England - but only if you became a member of the Fan Club before purchase!

Anyway, this has given myself cause to acknowledge other possible 'business' ethics that such Fan Clubs might employ in the near future regarding such releases...maybe, the British Fan Club are not the only Fan Club who have and will possibly continue to adopt such underhand tactics?

The British Fan Club were once (still is?) the world's most respected Fan Club - is this not a statement that they are continously hiding behind because of it's so-called tradition? Would Elvis have been pleased with the recent controversy regarding the sale of "The Making of 'On Tour'"?

Which club are you a member of and just what hidden depths lie ahead of you and your membership to your club?

Another British Fan Club scam just reported is the selling of a DVD-R disc which was comprised of Eddie Fadal's and Joe Esposito's Home Movies of Elvis.

The disc had no distinguishing printing or design, the cover was cheap paper and the picture quality was inferior - a third generation VHS copy...

All for the princely sum of ?19.00...

YEH.- i have heard about this as well.- it makes me so sick that this thing goes on .- . We must be all join together as a group and stop this mayhem - What do people think they are playing with .- I advise fans to stay clear from this . we all have ( or mostly all of us ) have these footage .

I guess almost everything is business now. Is really sad to know that "Elvis" name (and everything related to the king) can be so lucrative. I didn't know enough about this DVD release... It's terrible what you told us NEA: need to became a member of this Fan Club before purchase the DVD!? I think Elvis wouldn't be pleased with this situation. He was a very generous man...

But not everything is bad, let's think about charity too.
