I recently heard a song by Tammy Wynette called You Can Be Replaced and I don`t know why but I could just imagine Elvis singing it, a great song.
"You're Still Here" by Faith Hill. He'd have to adjust some of the lyrics and the key, but what a great song. Reminds me of something he would've covered.
cutiepie, I apologize for not answering your question in the way that you intended, but I wanted to share this: http://brucespringsteen.net/songs/JohnnyByeBye.html
If I can think of a proper answer to your question, I'll chime back in.
...you won't forget me when I go.

Hi cutiepie,
Good to know you've noticed where your thread disappeared to!
It was my mistake, I'm sorry.
Bye,
Rene
I would of liked to of heard elvis voice on
'Imagine - john lennon'
'you cant hurry love - supremes'
'Higher and higher - Jackie Wilson'
I think he would of done alot better job vocally of Imagine
Bruce Springstein wrote the song "Fire " for Elvis, I think that would have been a good song. Also "Heartache Tonight" the Eagles song. The song "Hero", so many I think he could have been great on.
I'd like to hear the song "Breathless" (Jerry L. Lewis) on Elvis voice... Also, "The thrill is gone" (B.B King).
Let the stars fade and fall, and I won't care at all, as long as I have you.
Elvis...

You're lookin' like glory and walkin' like a dream...
Mother nature's sure been good to Y-O-U"

That's what you do to me by Charlie Mcclain
"Taking Care Of Business In A Flash!"
What's funny is that over the years I have always heard songs that I think he could have done as good if not better and certainly different with his stylistic twist that he did so well.
I think the first song that I can remember thinking he should have done was "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard.
more;
She's Like the Wind - patrick swayze
more than words - extreme
sailing - christopher cross
copperhead road - steve earle
I could only Imagine - (christian group, can't remember)
Old Man down the Road - John fogerty
the thunder rolls & the dance - garth brooks
in the summertime - mongo jerry
in my daughter's eyes - trisha yearwood ?
tears in heaven - eric clapton
ship of fools - robert plant
I could go on and on.
Got my family, my kids, my books and my music, I'm good, yeah, I'm good.....
Ive been hearing to Neil Young the whole afternoon, have you guys heard a song called "Harvest Moon", man is such a beautifull song, and is just tailormade for Elvis, that pearl of a song would have sounded trearbreaking in Elvis voice palmsprings sep '73.
Spandau Ballet - Through the Barricades
Although allegedly a song about Northern Island, it is more ostensibly, in the words of its own creator, a "Romeo and Juliet" love song. The lyrics are extraordinary, and while Tony Hadley did a fantasic job on the vocals, I'd love to have heard Elvis' soulful cadence on this one.
All I can think of right know is
Golden Years by David Bowie
