Never seen it, but after your review I'm positive I didnt miss much. Thanks for the info.
I recently watched this movie after seeing it many years ago and I wondered what you thought of it. Personally I find it a sickening charactarisation of Elvis and a completely one-sided account. One scene that I found particularly upsetting was when Elvis started punching Currie Grant who according to priscilla had tried to rape her. We know this never happened and even in her book she states that Elvis just got rid of him when he found out so why did she include this in the movie. The sexual scenes were totally unneccessary but show just what kind of a fourteen year old girl she was desperate to sleep with him at whatever the cost even if it ruined his career. Dale Midkiff looks nothing like Elvis and his portrayal of him is the lowest of the low but I suppose he was only doing what he was told. I am disgusted by this movie and by the fact that someone could watch this who doesn`t know a lot about Elvis and get a completely distorted view of him and it makes me sick.

This is just another typical bash job that EP's legacy and us fans had to endure in the eighties. Why do you think a lot of us dislike Priscilla? A lot of overblown truths, most of which has been recanted. Priscilla has since done a complete rehearsal as you can see by this quote from Elvis By The Presleys. "I'll go to my grave defending Elvis", or something to that effect.Originally Posted by joanne

Yet, she does defend him in a weird way, doesn't she? From what I heard and saw and read, she spends an awful long time rehashing his bad times on the "Elvis by The Presleys (actually more the Beaulieus.....)" DVD, doesn't she?![]()
I don't care what she says, Elvis is still "The King" to me.

Priscilla is a comedian.. you can just tell by the way she acts in the Naked Gun series. After a statement like 'Oh Frank - why did you have to be so wonderful?' she can turn around and go on in a totally different direction, like driving a truck with a steering wheel that is way too big to look realistic, or she starts visiting these smoke-filled nightclubs with one of her female friends. Although I do have to admit she seemed to be able to love police inspector Frank Drebin while they were baking pots together, listening to 'Unchained Melody', (sadly this not being Elvis' version)..
It seems that it's hard to be betting on the number that changes everytime, this time it being Priscilla. She seems to be eager enough to make money out of Elvis..! I don't think she's particularly evil, although I would love her to be more honest concerning the truth about Elvis. " I'd like to have a word with you, miss" , is what'd I say to her. It seems to me that Frank Drebin is right when he says: "I'm sorry I can't be more optimistic, Doctor, but we've got a long road ahead of us. It's like having sex. It's a painstaking and arduous task that seems to go on and on forever, and just when you think things are going your way, nothing happens."

I read in "Child Bride" that Priscilla's account about Currie Grant was completely made up. In that book, there were pictures of Elvis and Currie together, after the date of the alleged rape. There were also pictures of Currie taking pictures of Priscilla to send to Elvis when he went back to Memphis--along with pics of Currie with Priscilla and her mother. Most damaging of all is the pic of Currie opening the car door for Elvis and Priscilla, on their way to the airport. The book questioned why, if Currie had done such a horrible thing, and if Elvis was so angry, he was still allowed to hang out with them.
Just my opinion!
I don't know whether that's true, but I just thought I'd mention that just 5 years or so ago Priscilla sued Grant for claiming somewhere or another that he had slept with her before introducing her and Elvis, and he countersued for her attempted rape story. I don't recall what came of that.
...you won't forget me when I go.
Can anyone shed any light on the Currie Grant situation?
According to Priscilla he walked up to her and asked her if she wanted to meet Elvis Presley and one night when he was driving her home he tried to rape her. She apparently told Elvis who was furious and got rid of him but we all know that he didn`t because he was pictured with Currie and Priscilla shortly before he left to go back to America and Currie also took some photographs of Priscilla at a later date for Elvis so why did she lie?
According to Currie in Child Bride it was her who approached him and asked if he could introduce her to Elvis in return for a sexual relationship which resulted in her taking him to court and winning but that didn`t prove that it never happened did it?
There are many sources for this book including other boyfriends that she had after Elvis left Germany who couldn`t understand why she never included them in her book Elvis and Me but according to her there was no one else and she spent all her time pining for Elvis. They were trying to turn the book Child Bride into a film but she has stopped it claiming that she will do anything to protect her name its a pity she didn`t do the same for Elvis.
This is an interview with the author of Child Bride Suzanne Finstad

I recall in "Child Bride" some transcripts of a meeting between Priscilla and Currie. It is true that it is one person's word against another, but the people that the book's author unearthed--Priscilla's old boyfriends, ex-friends, etc., could not have all been lying. I guess there is an anti-Priscilla feeling amongst Elvis fans(me included!), so it is easy to believe theories that are against her...so I would point to the fact that none of these people from Priscilla's "old" life seemed to have profited. I don't know for sure.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Elvis by the Presleys, (a very one-sided account) Priscilla says that when she told Elvis that Jerry Schilling asked how she was doing, that Elvis yelled at Jerry and fired him on the spot (though Jerry was rehired). If Elvis could react like that, it would have made sense that Currie would have been completely excommunicated from them.
Would Elvis, being the person that he was (especially in the Army) have simply continued his friendship with Currie if Currie had assulted Priscilla? Why didn't Priscilla sue "Child Bride's" author, for publishing the book? hmmmm!
Thanks for the interview link, Joanne!

To me there has never really been a movie done about elvis that was good. Im still waiting on someone to do a movie on Elvis like the one that was done about Ray Charles.
She`s at it again and this time she is going after Chris Hutchins who wrote that she had an affair in the seventies with photographer Terry O`Neill who had always admitted to an affair with her.Originally Posted by Lonniebealestreet
It proves that she sues even when it is true.
She got away with it when she sued Currie Grant but after all how could he prove it and she probably thinks she`ll get away with it again.
