Question About "Reconsider baby" song... (need info please)

Hi everybody! If you have information about this sexy song, please, let me know. "Reconsider baby" (Elvis is back! album) is one of my favorites songs, that sax sounds so good that it's hard to resist. I know there is ahother version from the 50s I guess... but I really need more information about it. Please, you great Elvis Presley FANS, help me. Where else (CD's, DVD's...) can I find this song???, Other versions???, Other takes???

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Wendy,

    That sax sure is terrific!

The first version that comes to mind is the live version from the benefite show, Honolulu, Hawaii, March 25, 1961.
This can be found on the 4cd boxset Elvis Aron Presley and on some import cd's.
And there's an early studio jam:

    Sun Studio, December 4, 1956 - Complete 50's Masters

Then there are several live versions from the Seventies available.

Las Vegas, August 23, 1969 - Collectors Gold & Elvis At The International (FTD)
New York, June 10, 1972as - An Afternoon In The Garden
Charlotte, february 21, 1977 - Moody Blue & Other Great Performances & Cajun Tornado (Import cd's)

    Hope this helps,
    Sonny

Yes, JB, that's the one I mentioned: Sun Studios, December 4, 1956. It came out on the Complete 50's Masters 4cd set.

    Hi Andy_M

I wrote "alternative take" because I don't really know how to call this "take". A friend of mine gave me a CD that he "made" with my favorites songs... didn't tell me more about them. So I can't really answer your question. I guess I have to find out all versions and finally know which is the one I have.

    Hi Wendy,
I understand. If you speak only about Studio Versions, than there exist ONLY the MDQ Dec. 56 SUN Session Version + the Original Master Take 2 from the April 1960 Session. Take 1 is NOT released on any CD as far as I know.
Also there exist NO other Studio Versions from Reconsider Baby.
See also the great Master & Session Website www.elvisrecordings.com

Live Versions exist from var. years see Sonnys posting.

I also would like to add, that the fabulous sax solo only can be heard on the master take and the 1961 Hawaii version.

In all live versions the sax is replaced by James Burton's guitar.

Thanks for the link Andy_M, really useful. And Sonny, thanks for that comment... So, I guess that 50s version don't have any sax sound.

Both, thank you so much. I'm happy!

Speaking of that killer sax, I was debating with myself whether Boots Randolph was still alive (no, that's not why I used the word 'killer'). For some reason I was thinking he had just died in the last couple of years, but then I found this handy site:

    http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/dead....Randolph+Boots

Good to know. I saw Boots sitting in with the CBS Orchestra on David Letterman just a few years ago, and he still sounded fantastic.

Apparently Elvis had him improvise on those solos on Reconsider Baby. What a classic performance.
...you won't forget me when I go.

A guy by the name of Lowell Fulsom wrote the song and he did the original version of it, it is an old blues number, but his version is no patch on E's...it can be found on a box set called "Cookin The Blues" if you like the sax on that number you should here other trax that
Boots played on right through the 60's...
