Sorry for not putting this into one email... but I have another question--
Was Deke Rivers supposed to be extremely nervous all throughout the movie? Elvis (the actor) seems quite... twitchy... all through. I haven't seen other movies, yet... I'm curious to know whether this was part of the story. If so, it was very convincing!
If not -- well, some of the books I've read point to the fact that Elvis had some kind of uncontrollable tic...due to the long-term damage of the medications he was taking, or something to that effect. Since he was so young when he did "Loving You," if the "twitching" is real, I would question why no one referred him to a neurologist or some other specialist, at the time.
I also noticed that he had his hands in his pockets or behind/under something in many scenes. This reminds me of an interview I saw of Michael J. Fox, discussing Parkinson's disease, where he said that he would often hide his hands behind his back so no one would see them shaking.
Thanks!!
