At least we have one thing we can agree upon: The shirt on display is not even the same type of shirt as in TTWII. So we did accomplish something.
Hi Guys,
Yes, I think you have discovered the very shirt on display in Graceland Leroy, but whether it is the same shirt that EP wore in "On Tour" is yet again another story. I certainly share your viewpoint as regards to a little more care and interest to be shown regarding the displays of the Jumpsuits & Scarves. But, let's not ask for miracles to happen at this stage because it has taken them this long to finally preserve the suits in the glass cases - I think asking them to match up the scarves as well would really mess with their minds!
Lonnie, I can actually imagine that conversation taking place between Priscilla and staff whilst they were throwing the displays together...funny but true - what a disaster!

I have come to the conclusion the EPE are quite happy to settle for half truths when it comes to accuracy for the sake of the dollar.
Up to 90% of the fans who walk through Gracelands doors will be happy with the information put to them by EPE, there are not many who would challenge EPE about their historical innacurracies, so the status quo will remain.
I have long believed that EPE (Mrs Presley & Co) who were a part of this history, claim their memories as fact rather than consult those in the know!
Close enough seems to be good enough unfortunately as far as EPE are concerned. The way Elvis artifacts have been handled is a disgrace, lesser stars have better facilities to house there legacy and do not sell the family silver for a quick buck!
IMO EPE sold out years ago and made Graceland into some tacky vegas style sideshow to get the punters through the doors to get the cash registers ringing.
History is secondery and re-written to suit the myth and corprate Image peddled out to the casual third generation of fans moulded by EPE.
Time will tell if they have anything left of value to show the future generations of this great man.
Matt
Matt, you've just perfectly put in words what I feel and think about the whole thing. I couldn't have said it better. This is one of the reasons I still can't urge myself into buying "Elvis by the Presley's". After the death of Elvis, Vernon, Minnie Mae and Aunt Delta there are no Presley's left.
Guys,
Another Red Shirt combination scenario has just occurred via my DVD player, this time with a white waistcoat:-
The Houston Astrodome Press Conference from 1970!
Is this the same shirt as in the "On Tour" Rehearsals which, in turn, could be the one on display in Graceland's Trophy Room??

Personally I believe this shirt comes closer to being the one from TTWII or at least the same type.
i believe that this not the shirt that Elvis wore in the film - T.T.W.I.I.-
( - 1970). the shirt differs to the one he wore in 1972. (on tour , whilst singinging - Separte ways and Always on my mind ) .

the shirt that he wore in 1970 on grounds of Graceland - 1970 - whilst riding Rising Sun - is different as well- theres pix of him holding baby and with fans too from this time .- (u guys know which ones i mean - )![]()
the oine red shirt he wore in TTWII- HAS A SIMILAR DESIGN TO THE ONE FROM 1972 .- BUT NOT THE SAME .![]()
A couple of bigger versions of the TTWII shirt worn at the rehearsals. Maybe to help clear things up a bit.
And then one from 73 with the red ( Super Fly) coat and Linda. Which shirt is this?
Got my family, my kids, my books and my music, I'm good, yeah, I'm good.....
Fantastic pics Menwithbroken hearts... Linda sure looked Beautiful also!!![]()
