Well done friend!!! You're right, Elvis is awesome and much more than that. Don't you think? You're really right to be proud of being an Elvis fan. Congratulations!

That happens, you can't help it elvisdownunder, specially when you are young and defend Elvis' work, music... people think you are "not-in fashion". Don't worry, someday they will understand, and if that never happen, then just believe in your own ideas.
That's a little advice I give to you. I lived the same situation.

I remember having the "Love Me Tender" ep around our house back then. So,
something off that ep was probably the first Elvis song(s) I heard. But, hey! I was only six back then. So, can't say for sure.

I cannot recall the first song I ever heard but I do remember I have known "Jailhouse Rock" all my life and didn't like it at first. It was one of the most played records at the end sixties/beginning seventies here in Holland. The first album I ever heard was "Gold Record Vol. 3". That was in 1971. I did like that one. The first album I bought was an album called "Movie Rocks". It was the same album as "Burning Love & Hits From His Movies" only with a different cover. I immediatly fell in love with "Burning Love", "A Matter Of Time" and "Tender Feeling". The first movie was "Elvis-That's The Way It Is" in the theatres in 1971.

I was 5 years old when I was flipping through my Mom's record cabinet and came across her copy of the TODAY album.....

So being the curious child that I was, I instantly put the record on my little toy record player and the first Elvis song that I ever heard was the first song on the album, T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!!

My Mom is still wondering to this day (28 years later) whatever happened to that album....and the other Elvis albums in her collection!!!

I heard my first Elvis song when I was 5 years old on Christmas Eve, and "Blue Christmas" was the song. I sat there and listen to the whole thing without saying and word, then after it was over I looked at my mom and said, "Well that guy sounded alot different." haha
