    Do You Like Todays Music?

personally i think it sucks. what do you think?

  2. #2
i'm 14, apart of todays generation, but i hate it! their music is nothing but an exuse for some stupid remixes, and their music videos nothing but an exuse to show off some flesh. on the other hand, down here in Australia we have terrific artists like Delta Goodrem, Shannon Noll, and Anthony Callea, who are terrific!
sincerely, Scott, a 15 year old Elvis fan

I quite like some of it, especially the Killers who are awasome IMO, I also listen to alot of house/techno/trance, but I can appreciate that it's not to everyone's taste......you still can't beat alot of the old music tho.

Well, I have to say NO as well!

Some songs are nice, but give me the old stuff anytime!

I love todays music as well!! Love ALL kinds of different stuff! I am just unlimited!!!

I like some of todays music. My favorite music, other than Elvis, is music from the '70s, and '80s. I hate the "grunge" music and rap.

Some, emphasis on SOME , is okay. Some of U2's songs, simply because Bono's got such a distinctive, recognizable voice (have some of their CD's and my all time faves are "The Joshua Tree": pretty much all of the songs on that one, "One", "Mysterious Ways" and one of the last ones "Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own" - don't know if that's really the title, it's the signature line of the song) and many of the tunes I like of them have some melancholy quality to them.
I'm not into rap at all, but lately there's an exception: I LOVE the song "Signs" by Snoop Dogg featuring Justin Timberlake, very hypnotic and great rhythm.

Most of the so called music out there these days, however, is downright C-R-A-P.

Can count on the fingers on my hand the number of songs that I liked over the past 5 or 10 years.

Well I'm also a big fan of U2, great musci, lyrics etc. Also like Gold Play, David Bowie, BB King (well probably also belongs to the old school) Prince etc. and I like to dance on a occasional dance hit. But most of the music made these days are made just for the money and not for the music.

I never listen to todays music ,i have tried to give it a chance many times but it never does anything for me,i drive in my car alot at work and allways listen to music and sometimes i listen to some off the new music on the radio, but it want be long before i pop a elvis, stones, jerry lee, chuck berry,or some rock&roll compilation cd that i made in my carstereo.

except when their release a new record with rarities/unreleased stuff with my favorites bands/singers

the only bands/solo artist that i get the new records of are,

rolling stones(you cant hardly call them new music ,(its only rock&roll but i like/love it)their have a new record coming out sep 6 the greatest rock&roll band ever(i love the beatles to )

ac/dc.hope their get their fingers out soon and release a new record

a danish singer called peter belli(the greatest danish singer ever) he?s been around since the early sixties and was as big as(in denmark) elvis, beatles ,stones you name it ,back in hes idols days in the midt 60?s to early 70?s,hes 62 years and still going strong and he still can sing any new wannabe rock singer on their ***,he got in spades, what the new singers need to day" soul&balls" ,both in he?s voice and personality.

john fogerty( in my opinion one off the greates songwriters ever)

and when jerry lee lewis releases a new record im in music heaven(he got one on the way cant hardly whait)

but on rare occasions i will by a new band/artist records

like the danish band ravonetts, I like their 50/60?s kinda sound.(man again im only buying it because it sound like the 6o?s ,)im really a sucker for the old sound ,the music today its just to nice sounding to digital or something ,when im listening to robert johnson, muddy waters ,hank williams ect my frinds allways tells me that it sound like crab(not the music the sound that is)but i just love the sound off it.

the late 40?s and 50,60,and early 70?s music are the music that "turns me on "

in my oppinion their just dont seem to be any, singers, bands ,entertainers,or actors ,that reach out to your heart and soul anymore, that got those bigger than life colorful personalities, today it all just seems to be fake,(man im only 36 i dont hope im beginning to sound like and old fool allready)but really ever since i was a kid ive allways been listening to the ("old music")
but music dont have any age its ageless ,just like mozart, beethoven, elvis ect.

ok i better stop now but music is my biggest passion and i can go on and on and on.

I also like to add that most of todays music (at least most of the songs that wind up in popular hitlists) is created with the help of computers and stuff.

Perhaps that is why the older music (fourties, fifties, sixties and part seventies) has so much more to offer. The older music was mostly created by dedicated musicians just playing in the studio with real instruments and real vocals, without samples and things like that.
My guess is that this "real recording" feel is what makes that those recordings are so cool to listen to.

that's exactly what i don't like about todays music. it's alot better, when back in the days, they were using real instruments in the studio. that's what makes the music original

And I guess for my years (22) I may seem completely old-fashioned cause I'm lovin' 50's, 60's, 70's stuff!!!!!BUT WHO CARES....I'm happy I'm DIFFERENT And there won't be anything better than Elvis' legacy EVER, I'm pretty sure...

I do like some of the music that's out there today, but I prefer the older stuff. '70s/'80s classic rock mostly. I've got a pretty broad mind when it comes to music, so if something sounds good I'll listen to it. But honestly, I'm pretty satisfied with just popping in an Elvis CD and pretending that the music of today doesn't really exist.
Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers, and some people sway back and forth. I just sorta do 'em all together, I guess.
