Thread: Do You Like Todays Music?

I don't think, today's music sucks. If you listen to some big hits of the past decades, you'll find a great ammount of sh@!?t. The big classics that everyone knows are just a handful of songs and the rest is forgotten. And I am sure, if you would listen to some of the former hits, you'd know why nobody can remember them. Once in a while there is a nice song in the charts that will be remembered in twenty years or so and then we will say: The music of 2005 was great, compared to the sh@!t that is on the radio today.

it's not just the big hits/classics i like. i actually listen more to songs that weren't hits. compared to the old music, todays music does suck
i will not say in 20 years that the music that was made in 2005 was great. there will never be made music again like they did it in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's. and that's the music i like

    Absolutely true, Mette!

Todays music can never be compared to the "real" music in those years you mentioned.

Todays music does have a very short time span, know what I mean? Most of todays hits are easily forgotten, while the "old" music will always go on!

exactly. back then they knew how to make real music. and it's really sad things have changed so much

It seems like music today is aimed for maxiumum profit with minimum effort! A lot of songs I hear on TV commercials, etc., are from way back--up until the early 80's, I think. Still, there is a lot more variety out there--I really enjoy yoga and celtic music along with swing... it's nice to be able to access such a range!

    Thumbs up

first let me start by stating the obvious,im a massive elvis fan .

however im also a fan of other music.including some of the following; 50 cent (any decent rap music basically ) , michael jackson, gwen stafani just cus shes fit,lol , pretty much all 80's music from bryan adams to adam and the ants and last but not least sum of the kewl 70's music.....

i think its gud to hav a wide variety of music taste as long as u know which 1 is the best.ELVIS!!!!!!!!!!

    Music today.

I like different kinds of music, like salsa; (a little bit of) cumbia and cuban son... of curse, my favorites are: rock'n'roll, blues, gospel, jazz... I believe all types of music have something magic, they are beautiful because make people happy. And...Yes, I dig some todays artists but, nobody can replace The King. He's the best ever.
Let the stars fade and fall, and I won't care at all, as long as I have you.

Hi everybody; about todays music, well I agree that compared with the 50?s and 6o's (early 70's) music revolution, the music industry today simply sucks. About the 80's ahhh common, the people who says there was good music in that decade is the middlaged people who past their teenage years in those days, is not objetive hahah the 80's suck, with a few exeptions, it was the most artificial era from them all, lucky I past my teenage year in the glorious 90's the closest decade in terms of music history to de 60's. My favourite music comes from the 50's and 60's (early 70's as an extention fo the 60's) But there is great s stuff going on durning the 90's if you look not in the top ten, ony crap over there.

Im alwas kind of in the middle of nowere, the people that share my taste for Elvis music dislike the other stuff that I like, the people who share my taste for that other stuff think im nuts cause I like Elvis. To weird.

So apart of Elvis, this is the people that I love and the music that I hear growing up, and I will don?t take any thats todays crap cause is not, is good music.

Beck. He?s so cool, great music. No crap. The way h mixesup diferent generes, so cool...

Remember The Smashing Pumkins. Many old Elvis fans will say, that is just noise, ah common you sound like those old people who said Elvis was indecent.

What about Bj?rk, im sure Elvis will be impressed by her act and his vocals. shes such a great singer and performer. Same with FIona Apple.

Radiohead... you won?t say they?re just crap do you? that is genuine musical expression.

Can?t belive that some Elvis fans dislike THe White Stripes. (dislike or simply ignoring that they exist) Sure ELvis would be 100% WIth Meg And JAck, im sure this would be like his favorite group from nowdays.

The Flaming Lips, this guys are great, they even played Suspicious Minds live once.

Remember a group called : Kula Shaker, Crispian Mills Is a talented guy, and the drummer of this group (don?t remember the guy?s name) wore an Elvs T Shirt on stage once, I was like: ahh you see Im not crazy for being a Kula Shaker fan and an Elvis fan at thesame time, to bad that Kula Shaker disbanded so soon, all my high shool memories are with them.

THe eighties where so boring, the ninetys were revolutionary (not as much as the 60's ok I admitt that, and Im a 60's music fan for sure, my favourite period and whatever), Im a diehard Elvis fan, but I like Nirvana an PearJam as well, Kurt liked Leadbelly and Vedder somethimes sings Can?t Help falling in Love On Stage, to bad he didn?t sing it when I saw Pearl Jam live. NOt sure if Elvis would have liked Nirvana, pretty sure he would have dig Pearl Jam. But the thing is that not everything have to be ELvis Measured to be apreciated my dearly ELvis mates.

P.S. Yes and I don?t like the 80's music specialy cause is the music that my older brother and sis heard when I was a kid hahaha... and I hated it so much. I liked Elvis and the Beatles and THe STones and they make fun of me because of that, then I started to hearing Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and that kind of stuff and everybody belived I was a freak cause I hated Guns and Roses and say they were fake, then in the 90's came Cobain saying that Gun?s and ROses are crap and that he liked Leadbellly and THe Beatles White album and Billy Crogan telling he was a The who fan, Radiohead inspired in Miles Davis *****es Brew to do Ok COmputer, and I thought: yea, now is my time for revange... you see I wasn?t crazy when I made my self clear about what was good music and what was not.
