    Visiting Memphis and Las Vegas!

    Hi you all,

Here I am, stealing wireless internet from Marie Callender's in Eureka, CA. So I can send u all a message and inquiry about what I definitly shouldn't miss in Las Vegas and Memphis.

Am currently on a trip of a lifetime cruising down the westcoast, starting in Seattle (I got to see the Space Needle, as we all now from It Happened At The World's Fair, from the air, arriving with the plane!!). We will hitt San Francisco tomorrow, maybe catch a baseball game and then head of east towards Las Vegas were we hope to be on Friday. After then we will countinue east and eventually hit Memphis (and Tupelo of course!!)...

So my question to you is: what Elvis-related places should I definitly now miss in Memphis and Las Vegas. I was in Vegas a ocuple of months ago but only had the oppertuity to see the signs of Hilton, Alladin and Frontier. Is it worth a closer look? What else should I see?

Same thing in Memphis. I guess I should see Graceland, Lauderdale Courts, Audobon Drive and Sun Studio. What else should I not miss... I guess I can't bore my company with too much Elvis, but in Memphis he will have to put up with it! Hehe!!

I hope you all can help me here!! It's gonna be great to drive from LV to Memphis and see all the`beautiful scenery pass by. The US is a truly beaitiful country!!!

PS. Actually, come to think of it. We will hit Nashville too... So maybe you can help me with some interesting places to see there too... Elvis related or not... We need help! LOL

Just went to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and had an AWESOME time. One of the funnest places I went to was the Elvis-A-Rama museum. It was incredible and so fun! You have to see the impersonator tribute show there too, it may seem cheezy, especially when you first walk in, but once it starts, it's great!!! I saw Legends in Vegas too and I have to say that the Elvis at the museum was better than the one at the Legends show. The museum and show are only like 25 dollars, very reasonable. In Vegas, for more Elvis stuff go to Hard Rock Cafe/Hotel, Hilton Hotel, the Legends in Concert at the Imperial Palace (Elvis plays at EVERY show), and maybe the Aladdin, since that's where Elvis was married and all. I hope all of this helped. Let me know. Have fun!

I'm not sure I have anything to add, but I HAD to reply to this message! My name is Linda as well. I'll be in Eureka, CA tomorrow, I'm going to Vegas in August, and I was in Memphis last May. Too much in common!!

I was only in Memphis for about 24 hours, but I stayed at the Heartbreak Hotel, went to Graceland and Beale Street. I'm going back next year to visit all the places I missed.

I was in Vegas about 4 years ago and I agree that the Elvisarama Museum is not to be missed!

    Have a great trip, Linda!!
    Before Elvis, there was nothing....

Thank you all for your replies!!

We were in San Francisco yesterday, attended a baseball game, Oakland vs. Seattle (I have been living in Boston for a year but never been able to watch a game there, the Red Sox are just way too popular and Fenway way too small) and did some sightseeing. Today we are starting our drive to Vegas and are planning on being there tonight.

Once again, thank you for your suggestions. Let's review - it seems like we can't miss Elvis-a-rama-museum (do you think that someone who isn't an Elvis fan will appreciate it too? And I really dislie impersonator and would really only concider watching one if it was for free... )

I also just found this website which seems pretty nifty http://www.nwlink.com/~timelvis/lvelvis.html I am definitly gonna try and check out the pool from Viva Las Vegas. And then we had Hilton, Alladin, Frontier and Hard Rock Cafe.

Maybe I will check out all these thinsg while my company plays poker, since I am currently under 21 and concidered too young for dangerous things like poker.

In Memphis: Graceland (is it possible to check out Vernon's house?), Lauderdale Courts, Audubon Drive, Humes High (that would be really cool, thanks for the suggestion Albert), Stax Ellis Auditarium and Beale Street.

Does anyone have suggestions on where once should stay in Memphis?? Concideering money and location... mostly location.

OK gotta go and get ready for the car ride now... Talk to you later!!

One thing that I'd like to do when visiting the US is to find original sceneries from Elvis' movies. Like the swimmingpool from your example (thanks!):

Not far from the Imperial Palace is the Flamingo Hilton (3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South) where Elvis filmed parts of his 1963 film "Viva Las Vegas" with Ann-Margret. Check out the Flamingo pool where Elvis and Ann-Margret sang "The Lady Loves Me."
