cover and disc label help.

how can i do cool covers like you do gang?
all i have is clairsappleworks for mac.
one thing i have been doing is cutting out elvis and rca logos from photos of the orignal lp and 45 covers.
i still can't figure out how to change the color on the photo background.
and adding color to the cd labels.
can you help me please?
