NEA...Redroo here mate...what happened to the original cover, notice how many people have now copied this cover over the years, and persist in doing so, and of course if you speak to these peole non of them like E, NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO...just want to copy him, like everybody...E's influence will still be around in another 200 years from now, how many people have named themselves ELVIS just on his name alone, before E was born there was only one other Elvis and that was Vernon, now Elvis is everywhere...well at least his first name will never die even if it is the end of the line for his last name...

    Thumbs up Favorite Album covers

My favorites in order of preference:

    (1) Memphis record - (For style and originality)
    (2) Walk a Mile in My shoes (Great 70's live action shot)
    (3) Essential Elvis Vol 5 (for the fascinating reflective photo that symbolically captured the tracklisting)
    (4) Gold records Vol 2 (possibly the best 50's album cover of all time).

    Copy

    Hi Redroo,

Yes, the likes of Rod Stewart and Bon Jovi have copied the theme of the classic 'Gold Records Volume 2' cover. But, I think ol' Rod and Jon are big EP fans.

    Cheers,

    NEA.

    "Rare Elvis"

Marty has just included a wee gem in his favourite album covers there - 'RARE ELVIS'.....aahhh yess, I remember it so well - great close up pic from the 50's !

This series of LPs originate from the early 80's and I think there was a total of 3 volumes - it was like a follow on to the Legendary Performer series and was just before the Essential Elvis series was born. I think they were possibly released by RCA France or Germany??

Anybody got a photo of that RARE ELVIS Vol 1 cover they can upload on this thread?

    Cheers,

    NEA.

    "Rare Elvis" The Cover

    Here it is guys!

The one on the left is the CD version (somewhat different colour tint - I very much prefer the image tone of the original LP cover)...

The one on the right is the LP cover (somewhat cropped on right-hand side in this pic - not my doing!)

    Artistic Flair

    Guys,

Here's two of the more artistic cover creations both from the same year. I presume a lot of people are familiar with the "Welcome To My World" album, which was probably the overall penultimate RCA release just before Elvis died - the final album release prior to that fateful day being "Moody Blue".

The other album here was released in early 1977 from RCA UK - "Elvis In Demand". This was a special compilation to mark the 21st Anniversary of the Official Elvis Presley Fan Club of Great Britain. It was made even more special due to the fact that Fan Club members chose the tracks for release to create this LP.

    Cheers,

    Memorably Striking

ELVIS 100 Super Rocks (Rare 1977 German only 7-LP box set, includes superb large fold-out full colour poster)

I always found the cover of this rare box set quite striking.

    Graceland Variation

Here's a variation of the Graceland theme represented by the classic concert album "Live On Stage In Memphis" from 1974 and "Our Memories of Elvis - Vol. 1" from 1979.

Album Covers are so great, all are really good so it's a difficult choise. Elvis 56 it's one of my favorites (I like the picture), it was my first CD. But also I've been fascinated for the background and really nice picture of this other one.

    Aloha in question?

I have read in some reports that a number of fans were never too impressed with the original cover of "Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite" double LP. The fans complained that there wasn't any photographs included on the cover from the actual telecast.

However, years later we now have a more suitable representation on the upgraded BMG CD release...What do you think?

    Alternate Aloha

The cover of the 1988 release of the Aloha Rehearsal Concert from January 12th, 1973 appeared to put the original Aloha cover in the shade...any thoughts?

Agreed that the Alternate Aloha cover was a nice piece of artwork.

Regarding His Hand In Mine as released in the U.S., the one on the left there was the 1976 reissue, and the original American release looked virtually the same as the UK one.

Grantster, Rhythm And Country is a favorite cover of mine as well. I think the front cover is even better than the back.

As far as covers from the 70s featuring concert images (i.e. nearly all of them), I think Raised On Rock/For Ol' Times Sake features one of the best photos.

...you won't forget me when I go.
