    Vegas, Jan-Feb 1972: Don'cha Think It's Time?

    Hey Guys,

Just been listening to Disc 3 of the "Live In Las Vegas" Box Set and I'm overawed (as usual) with Elvis' choice of repertoire and overall performance of the songs from the Jan-Feb 72 Vegas season - so dynamically focused.

The majority of older fans will already be familiar with Elvis' rendition of 'It's Impossible', which was included on the 1973 Elvis "Fool" album, plus the single version of 'An American Trilogy'. Many fans will no doubt already be familiar with the rest of these performances on the "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" Seventies Box Set.

These classic versions were recorded at the Hilton Hotel between February 14 - 17, 1972 and another great version of 'American Trilogy' immediately springs to mind from this period which was included on 'The Las Vegas Years' segment of the Silver Box Set, "Elvis Aron Presley".

So, let me cut to the chase: - Don'cha think it's time that a complete show from this engagement was released on the FTD label?

What do you think guys? This appears to be one helluva Vegas Season - too good to be missed!

    NEA.

    I AGREE COMPLETELY NEA!!!

Elvis was still at the top of his game in Las Vegas in 1972....the monotony of performing in Vegas still hadn't quite set in completely for him yet, and he was still delivering some dynamite shows both during his Jan./Feb. engagement as well as the summer engagement! It would be a true shame if FTD didn't release at least 1 show from both of these Vegas '72 engagements! My guess is, FTD will eventually get around to releasing something from these Vegas shows....

...but as with most things Elvis....PATIENCE is a virtue!!!

I whole heartily agree. EP was still on top of his game and thus his performances in 1972 were outstanding.

There may be some previously unissued soundboard shows from this engagement, but RCA didn?t record complete concerts whilst their multi track recording equipment was present in the showroom.

Rather like the recordings that produced the ?On Stage? album two years earlier, the recording equipment was turned on to record specific songs, and not entire concerts.

Having said that there should be enough alternates in the RCA vaults for a February ?72 compilation, and it would make an excellent release.
