Elvis and Ginger/Elvis by the Alden's

I think there should be a mini-series about Elvis' life with Ginger Alden and or the Alden's. The time period for this movie would take place from Nov 76 to Aug 16 1977. Moments such as when Elvis met Ginger, the funeral for Ginger's grandfather,Elvis' engagement to Ginger, the cancelled recording sessions in Jan 77, Elvis' last vacation in Hawaii Mar 77, his last concert tours, the making of Elvis in concert, Riding around Memphis in Aug 77 on motorcycles with Lisa Marie and Ginger,Elvis stopping an robbery at an convenence store, Playing Racketball, singing with friends and other things that made Elvis ticked would be included in this movie. Everything about this mini-series would be factual. From the script to who the actor who plays Elvis looks like. The most realistic looking Elvis ever(unlike past Elvis actors, midgets and Don Johnsons need not apply -sorry guys ) Everything in the movie would be true. Through goodtimes and bad. No stone left unturned. It would be a true story about Elvis and his last love and or the Alden family. I think this is a great idea for a mini-series, and it would be such a breath of fresh air for Elvis fans. We never hear about or from Ginger Alden and or her family.

Let me know what you guys think!!!!

It would also be - if truly FACTUAL - quite a can of worms on multiple levels.

What all / most fans are familiar with ....... is only the Disneyfied version of The Elvis & Ginger Saga. There is ...... much, much more that remains unexamined / untold / swept under the rug.

    -----------------------

You want the truth ...... ??

(A famous movie line comes to mind):

"You can't handle the TRUTH ...... (!!)" LOL!!

It's part of his life too!!! Why not tell his fans about it in a mini-series!!! How could he not love Ginger, they were engaged to be married!!!

During the course of 1977 Elvis began to have his doubts about her. If there was a mini serie to be made about the "Elvis - Ginger affair" it should be one filmed from Elvis' point of view. I think that would be more refreshing than all those "hangers on" opinions. All those who hung around have claimed to know every in and out and after all those years I've learned more about them than about Elvis. It's like Captain Elwood says: it will just open another can of worms and nothing substantial will be added to the puzzle. You want to know more about Elvis or about his affairs? Just dig deep into your own feelings about relationships (both black & white). Elvis wasn't that different from the rest of us in that aerea.

Yes, it is indeed (part of the story).

It has been rumoured for years that Alden has penned her own book / version of the events.

Keep in mind, however: there are a number of people that were there, who have chosen not (in some cases, never) to speak out / publish. The reasons for it are often complex ----> the viewpont that certain things are inherently "wrong" to do, should forever remain in the realm of "private", & ........ the individual may genuinely want to avoid the spotlight (ie: they have their own lives now, loved ones, & have moved on).

EP said lots & lots of things to different people; that doesn't necessarily translate into what he said being the "truth" or becoming reality. There are MANY examples.

EP could be a master at getting whatever he wanted; it's called charm & charisma.

The writing was indeed on the wall regarding Ginger.

All certainly do have pieces to the puzzle, but one needs to always filter such information and consider it in the context of the whole (other pieces), the general kind of person the "source" is, & the kind of person that EP himself was. (Not always an easy thing to do).

Leroy is very correct here - excellent advice on all levels.

I would certainly welcome Ginger "Officially" adding her word to the history books. What, however, remains to be seen is: would it be accurate, worthwhile, & substantive ............... or ......... merely another hack effort lame attempt to re-write an alternative version of the events (?).

If the former, ....... then I say, bring it on. If the latter, ...... then why bother (?).

I think there should be at least a book about their relationship. With lots of candid pictures of Elvis and Ginger together.

Generally speaking, candid pics. of E @ Graceland were an understood "No-No" by those orbiting the "inner circle." That's why they just don't exist - especially as the 70's progressed.

Lot's of pics, however, were snapped while the two (E & Ginger / Family) were on-the-road traveling (at venues in the audience or backstage, arriving departing hotels, embarking / disembarking "The Lisa Marie" - even on-board). There are also additional candid gems from "The Last Vacation" in Hawaii (March '77).

Anyhow, like I said, ........ lots & lots remains untold.

Is this what you're referring to, Captain? I don't have it, but I just saw something about it on the net somewhere some time ago. Are there any pics in it that haven't made the rounds on the Elvis sites? Any pics from their foray to the Polynesian Cultural Center?

Regardless, I'm sure I'd enjoy the magazine--assuming that's what you were talking about.

That's a great color publication that was published around '78 by Hodge & Grob (I believe). I have a copy. It is very thin, but recommended. It is also a favorite of mine, personally.

All photos show EP relaxing / having fun on the beach of his private rented retreat during that visit. I think all the pics. inside are pretty well-known to hardcore fans.

    ----------------------------------

On another note: Joe E. has since published some of his own pics. (E playing football & E whispering sweet-nothings into the ear of Joe's significant other at the time ).

There has also been another photo or two to surface of E "wrestling" on the floor with Ginger's sister inside the house. Not certain as to the source of this one, though.

    ---------------------------------

In answer to your question pertaining the the existence of other unknown / unpublished pics. from that vacation -----------> Yes, they do indeed exist.

A lot remains untold & unseen from that vacation. I'm certain than Ginger & others that accompanied have a lot to add, but ........ for various reasons have chosen not to - to date.

Who do you think should be cast as Alicia Kerwin?
